The problem with most sports columns (and this is a column, not an article, so it's basically nothing more than one person's opinion, which may or may not be worth the recycled paper it's printed on), is that most sports columnists these days are more concerned with their own popularity/celebrity and getting a reaction than they are about actually writing good columns.

Also, the vast majority of the time a story/column focuses on leadership, it's a complete waste of time. As is just about every story that tries to pin the success/blame of a team on an individual.

Simmons himself has mentioned that Larry Bird would get bored during a road trip and decide to only shoot left handed for a half. Isn't that mailing it in?

[/ QUOTE ]

Is this true? That's pretty sick.

Kind of like when MJ shot (and made) a free throw with his eyes closed.

I've been trying to find video clips of that Bird left-handedness for a while, but I can't find any online. I know I saw some of it on TV before. Does anybody have any links?

Bird was actually ambidexterous. He writes and eats with his left hand, though he primarily shot with his right hand.

Here is a video clip of Reggie Miller telling a story of Bird beating guys he coached on the Pacers in a game of HORSE using his left hand.
