I imagine it would be helpful and would be surprised if it didn't get more traffic than a handful of the existing OT forums.

This has been brought up before on a few occasions - i forget the exact response but mostly it went along the lines of "Other sites do this, 2+2 is not in this business etc"

I wouldn't actively be looking for stuff to buy and I would be just as skeptical of people as I am through any other medium. Although there are people on here I would certainly trust to make a transaction with.

Actually, I think the best part of such a forum would be for people looking for deals, esp since most people on these forums are interested in the same kind of stuff more or less. "Hey, dell.com has a stellar 2-day sale on monitors! Here's a coupon code to use..." that kind of thing.

Good to know 2+2 isn't interest in expanding the forums beyond the scope of their business: gambling, poker, politics and golf :P
