Default 99 on an increasingly scary board

Villains in this hand are all loose-passive to a degree that a raise anywhere would have me insta-muck my hand.

Full Tilt Poker
Limit Holdem Ring game
Limit: $1/$2

Pre-flop: (8 players) Hero is Button with 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
3 folds, MP2 calls, CO folds, Hero raises, SB calls, BB calls, MP2 calls.

Flop: T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (8SB, 4 players)
SB checks, BB checks, MP2 checks, Hero bets, SB calls, BB folds, MP2 calls.

Turn: 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (5.5BB, 3 players)
SB checks, MP2 checks, Hero bets, SB calls, MP2 calls.

River: 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (8.5BB, 3 players)
SB checks, MP2 checks, Hero...

The calls on the turn had me planning on checking behind on the river. Now I have "improved". I don't think anyone got a flush - the usual idea there seems to be to raise the turn. So, is this a thin b/f or should I be happy I survived the hand in one piece?

id check. i doubt the villains have a king. they might and just check/call defensively because they fear a flush but i think that if they do have a straight it is with an 8. heads up i would probably bet this.

I bet.
This is 2 guys drawing with 1 card flush draws a lot.
If either had a king they'd surely bet into you fearing that you'll check behind if they check. But then i guess that depends on their image of your play.

Hero didn't really have the equity to bet the turn, for that matter. Good spot to check in position and see what the river brings us; with the 9 falling on the river, I'd have called one closing the action, folded to two, and had a hard decision if it was one to me not closing the action (meh, easy call/fold, actually).

As played, check behind on the river. Bet/fold sucks because you could get a check/raise out of two-pair + busted FD, and paying more than one bet to show this down sucks more.

I would check the turn but bet the river the way you played it. No passive player is checkraising the river with a hand you beat so you can fold if it happens.

If you ARE the best hand, what are the chances that you get called by a worse hand on this board? If they'll call w/ Qx Jx yeah I'm throwing a bet in. If not, then check behind.
