aggression
IM sure this is very basic for eveybody. But im completely second guessing myself. Aussie recommended being more aggressive post flop.
Poker Stars Limit Holdem Ring game Limit: $0.10/$0.2 10 players Converter Pre-flop: (10 players) hero is MP2 with :ks :js UTG calls, 3 folds, hero raises</font>, MP3 folds, CO 3-bets</font>, 3 folds, UTG calls, hero calls. Flop: :tc :jd :4c (10.5SB, 3 players) UTG checks, hero bets</font>, CO raises</font>, UTG folds, hero 3-bets</font>, CO calls. Turn: :td (8.25BB, 2 players) hero bets</font>, CO calls. River: :4s (10.25BB, 2 players) hero bets</font>, CO calls. CO Qc Qd Results: Final pot: 12.25BB Opponent 17/10/1.5. If i c/r him on the flop hes probaly going to call down. If i bet outright he will probably come over the top. So how could I have played this better? |

Re: aggression
This hand is played fine, you just ran into a better one.

Re: aggression
being as tight as he was, as soon as he came over the top i would have normally folded. Why is this a better play?

Re: aggression
I don't think I donk this flop. Given that you did, 3-betting is correct.

Re: aggression
Your hand's a slight favorite against a 17/10's 3-bet range preflop w/ that flop coming(99+ AQ+ sound good?). So I don't mind a 3-bet here. If he caps you can think about whether or not you should be folding.
Aaron, why don't you like the donk? |

Re: aggression
are you saying i missed played the prelop? Middle position with kj suited = a raise. Am I missing something?

[/ QUOTE ] 1) Betting is a good way to get action from better hands, unless you are totally convinced he raises AK/AQ/KQ and 99 here. The 1.5 AF has me second-guessing hero's read. 2) I'd rather check/raise/call than bet/3-bet and sometimes /call, or worse, bet/3-bet the flop and bet/call the turn. 3) Check-raising sometimes gets UTG to put two bets into the pot whereas facing him with two bets sometimes will not. |

That said there is merit to the way you played it eventhough it figures to basically always be -EV in this case. Lead/calling is bad unless you are planning on lead/reraising the turn but let's not adress that here. Lead/3-betting is a legit play though it doesn't figure to work with just top pair unless the guy is a complete LAG or will fold AA-QQ (not gonna happen). I would check/call the flop. |

Re: aggression
Reviewing the hand again, I agree with Aaron. Bet on the flop and see if a 1.5 player raises should tell me where he is.

Re: aggression

Aussie recommended being more aggressive post flop [/ QUOTE ] actually I thought I said that were too fit/fold because your W2SD was quite low, your W$SD was at the high end and your postflop aggro was above the 2-3range as per FAQ. Actually, having a high postflop AF given your tight VPIP isnt bad at all but I drew my conclusion looking at the 3 stats in question. |
