Re: Ron Paul\'s racist comments
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] You would think they could dig up something, ANYTHING else showing racism, other than some ancient newsletter that doesn't sound like anything he's ever said in the past, or since. You would think . . . [/ QUOTE ] Is the absence of similar examples really an affirmative defense against the existance of a known example? [/ QUOTE ] I'm just saying. A guy goes his whole life as a secret racist. Nothing in his voting record, speeches, conversations, or actions is racist. But deep down he's a racist. Then one day he decides to publish a public article that thousands will see that is blatantly racist? He will openly reveal his secret racism that he kept hidden for decades, for no benefit or gain to himself? Then that person never writes anything or does anything racist again? I just can't buy that. It's not "proof" but it's just . . . logic. |

Re: Ron Paul\'s racist comments
I'll admit I havn't read this entire thread, I've read most of it though, just a lot of repitition, figure I've got the basics down.
With regards to the statement '95% of blacks are criminal" (paraphrase) What came before that is completly being ignored. He said the D.C. statistics say 85% are criminals and knowing how inefficient they are, he felt the number was probably more like 95%. Anywho, I will say that as a Ron Paul supporter I am slightly disturbed by this writing, put off of my Ron Paul enthusiasm a bit. Not too much though, because of a few reasons. One being that we aren't really sure that he did infact write this stuff. The other being that him being racist is about as relevant as his skin color, his sexual orientation, and his religion. As long as none of the above effect his policies and ideas in regards to the Federal government, I don't really care. Will he still support getting rid of the IRS? Pulling out of Iraq? Eliminating the income tax? Great, I still support him. Will he advocate enslaving the black people again? No, he won't. If he did, obviously I wouldn't be able to support him. My point is, I don't think any racism he does have (if he does) will effect his politics. It hasn't thus far. |

Re: Ron Paul\'s racist comments
I would like to see a link to the article where ron paul says, "I lied."
The other article doesn't seem to make it clear that he actually wrote the statements. It seems like they were discussing statements in his news deal (which, I thought, was gost written). |
