I don't hate calling pf here. This gentleman is going to the flop no matter what you do, why bloat the pot with this hand? Just outplay him afterward.

I do hate the check raise, and I would just call his raise.

What he said ^

I quite like pf. the whole "raise or fold pf" doesn't apply to this villain.

On second thoughts, even a 73/7/0.7 would bet the turn with the nuts here, so your 4bet has merit...

Part of the reason I think checking the river is bad is that we can't really expect Villain to value bet a pair. There is some chance he'll bluff when checked to three times, but he probably won't bluff that big, and I think it's better to bet, mostly because . . .

If by some chance he has Ax, he'll probably raise. 3-betting that raise is better than 4-betting if he 3-bets a river checkraise, because if he 3-bets a river checkraise, his hand will be weighted more toward 6x than it would be if he were simply raising the river. (I mean, my checkraise definitely represents a straight.)

Anyway, in the actual hand, Villain 5-bet pushed, I called thinking it looked like I was just going to chop, but he had 7h6h and the pot went to him.
