I don't know how reciting the alphabet backwards helps prove you are not drunk. I can't do it sober. My guess is that people must practice it "like IPPISSISSIM" a few times just to make sure they can do it?

Is that so, or is this a given gift I don't have??

I learned this in OOT last year actually...

if u do it like that... it's not that hard to remember. I guarantee you can recite the alphabet backwards with ~5 minutes of practice.

CPR

this is important so id like to educate you.

basically, you cant [censored] this up. the person is already dead at this point and any air or blood u circulate will help keep them around till first responders can arrive. if u want a short and simple of the process read on. otherwise... dont.

Airway: make sure the airway is open. (ie choking hazards/tongue etc)
Breathing: breath for them.
Circulation: pump their heart for them.

its all done in that order because if their airway isnt open, u cant get air into their lungs, if you cant get air into their lungs, you cant get air into the blood and if there is no o2 in the blood, theres no real purpose in circulating blood.

for adults the process goes kind of like this:

A) clear the airway by tilting their haed back. u want their throat in a nuetral line, not pinched or over extended. also, if theres something in their mouth u want to get it out. do the best u can with what u have but try not to stick ur figners in their mouth as u can risk pushing the foriegn object/tongue further down their throat.

B) breath two breaths into their mouth. yes its nasty so if it grosses u out let them die, theres nothing in the law that says u have to help. when breathing for them, watch their chest, u want to see if it rises, if it does they are least getting some air, if not, try and adjust their airway as necessary. sometimes u can only get a little air in, but its better than none.

C) now that there is air in the lungs, u want to circulate the blood. two hands, one over the other, with ur palm on the patients chest. draw a line between their natural nipple line (old people or wo(men) with large saggy [censored] will be altered a bit so make adjustments as necessary) and put ur palm right in the middle of that line. u want to compress the chest about 1 1/2 to 2 inches (again depends on size of patient) repeatedly and really fast (think about ur pulse, every compression is a beat, so u need to get to at least 60-70 beats per minute). a good rate goes something like 30 compressions and two breaths over and over again until someone relieves you.

if the patient pukes (a reaction to u breathing air into their stomach instead of their lungs), roll them onto their side and let them puke, then start all over again (A B C).

if u want a more detailed read: try Wiki on CPR or take a class at the local fire dept/church/senior center.

like i said before u really cant eff this up but its still good to have an idea of what should be going on, because it can save lives.

You pay $40! I get it done at Goodyear (normally a ripoff but it's next door) for about $17 with coupon.
