FTOPS #6 (322$): QJo on the BB, facing a pf-raise from a maniac
Full Tilt Poker
No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $50/$100 9 players Converter Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is BB with Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] UTG folds, UTG+1 raises to $275, 6 folds, Hero calls. Flop: 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($600, 2 players) Hero checks, UTG+1 bets $200, Hero raises to $1200, UTG+1 raises all-in $3956, Hero ??? Villain is a complete donkish maniac (51/40 over 70 hands) who had showndown complete rubbish, cold-calling pf-raises with A5o and even went all-in with bottom-pair on a K-high flop (against a pf-raiser!). If he doesn´t hit the board, he tends to make a conti-bet and fold the turn. Are those reads enough to call him preflop / on the flop? |

what are stacks? assuming your semi deep, i dont mind the call preflop.
dont raise this flop unless your prepared to call a push tho. Given your description you have to call, but in general i just call flop unless im v. happy to get it in |

You said he was a donk, so go with it. Even if you're behind, you'll have outs. But I'd expect to be ahead a good portion. |

Re: FTOPS #6 (322$): QJo on the BB, facing a pf-raise from a maniac
OK, I tell you what happened. I was slightly astonished about his push but I reluctantly called (which I planned to do anyway before I raised the flop). Unfortunately he rubbed my nose into his 88 - which held up and even improved to FH by the river.
I just wanted to know if I overreached here - as I had a sizeable stack (slightly above average) and was in no need to tangle with the table-maniac. |

How come you didn't go with this read? |

I wanted him to fold his overcards as well as any straigh draws (i.e. AT) ...
