Foxwoods games during the day
Hi Guys,
My gf and I will be in new york for holiday in two weeks (july 1 to 5) and I was planning on driving up to foxwoods for one day, most likely on tuesday, july 3rd. What games can I expect to be spread during the day, let's say 10 am to 10 pm? Am looking to play LHE in the 40/80 range but would also consider playing NLHE 2/5+ or mixed games. Also, can anyone tell me how long the drive from manhattan to foxwoods will probably take if I start around 8 am. I will most likely rent a car in nyc for the drive but am willing to travel by train/ship/etc. if someone has a better suggestion. I am a little bit worried about driving in the states as I am used to going twice the us speed limit most of the time here in austria (what would happen if they catch me going 80 or 90 mph in the states?). Thank you for all suggestions. Regards, RegBarclay |

Re: Foxwoods games during the day
I'm not a foxwoods regular but from what i know they don't usually get 40/80 games off there during non tourney times. I have been there during the week and they couldnt even get a 20/40 off.
For a slightly shorter drive time from NYC you can go to the Borgata in AC where you will definitely have at least one 40/80 game running. |

Re: Foxwoods games during the day
If I were you, I'd try to leave earlier, 6:30 at the latest. It will be busy at Foxwoods the day before the holiday and you should get there by 10 to avoid long lists/wait. expect a 2 and half to three hour drive. and no, you don't want to get caught going 90. big fine.
20-40 runs every day. a 40-80 might go but don't count on it. plenty of 2-5 NL games to choose from, as well as 5-10. gl |

Also, the previous poster is right, try to leave as early as you can handle. 6:30am would be great. There are no trains that go to Foxwoods- so your best bet is to drive or take a helicopter. There are probably buses that depart from Manhattan, but I'm just guessing. |

Re: Foxwoods games during the day
You will be lucky to drive 55 out of NYC and on I95 thru Conneticut. This is one of the most congested roads in the country. If you hit a traffic jam plan on half a day to get to foxwoods.
If you change your plans and go to Atlantic City you will get the action you want and can speed down the Garden State Parkway and maybe get away with it. If your girlfriend has not been to Atlantic City and is not a big poker player there is lots more to see than at Foxwoods |

Re: Foxwoods games during the day
You can safely do 74 mph (65 mph limit) on I95 going to Foxwoods. If you find a string of cars doing 80-85 mph you can get in behind them relatively safely. Be careful passing on the right...the troopers watch for that. Lots of tailgating. Once off 95 I wouldn't go much more than 5-6 mph over the limits in speed zones under 65 mph.

Re: Foxwoods games during the day
This is actually true past New Haven but if you could average anything greater than 60 from NYC to New Haven you should be a race car driver

Re: Foxwoods games during the day
During rush hour, 95 sucks in both directions. Midday its really not horrendous. If you leave at like 10am its tolerable. Also, in times of traffic the Hutch/Merrit/Wilber Cross (it changes names a couple of times) is without a doubt better. You can take that, use the connection just below New Haven and then go. I've never had a cop problem driving from New Haven to and from Foxwoods in the 75-80 mph range and I used to make that drive all the time in college.
