Default BlackJack - Perfect Play?

I have seen many stats that say you can only win 44.3 - 47.5% of the hands in blackjack (not sure what stat is correct).

If you played exactly like the dealer (i.e. must stick on 17 or better only) - isn't the win proportion 50:50?

Or is there a perfect way to play every blackjack hand to maximise your EV from every possible scenario? (ignoring card counting etc etc), so giving you a better than 50% chance of winning and a +EV?

There is no +EV way to play blackjack unless you count cards, take a look at this site for the house edge and basic stragegy:

Cheers,
Some good pointers there!

Just trying to figure out the optimal way to play to lose the minimum cash (for bonus hunting) - and see if I can figure out when a bonus is worth chasing and when it is not.

If both you and the dealer bust, you lose your bet - this is where the lower win % comes in. This is partially conteracted by you getting paid 1.5 to 1 on your blackjacks, but it is not enough for you to have an edge on the house.

[/ QUOTE ]The "mimic the dealer" strategy has a house edge of almost 5.5% (assuming no splitting or doubling.)
