Myriad Casino approved in Tunica
The Myriad Casino was approved last night and construction will begin sometime this year. I am still not sure where it is going in at, but nearly $1 billion will be invested into it. Here is a link:

Here is a link: [/ QUOTE ] A Canadian "mega economic force" in Tunica County. Why not? You already have (America's largest gaming company) Harrah's in Tunica, making their stockholders rich, using a labor force which consists of dealers who are compensated (paid) partly by "tokes", thus relieving the company of having to PAY their employees. Myriad is undoubtedly going to use the new I-69 as a route for CANADIAN trucking companies and CANADIAN suppliers for operation of the joint. I have seen the newer "modest" rental housing "projects" erected for the slaves who now work at Harrah's etc. The newer mansions and gated communities for Myriad owners and bosses will come later, with names like "Myriad "Plantation" Resort Homes". |

Re: Myriad Casino approved in Tunica
Are you serious Magoo? First, what else is anyone going to do in Tunica, if it wasn't for those casino's no one would be there, and second, if you don't want to work there, play there, live in the housing provided, then don't.
Are all people who get paid on tips "slaves"? I didn't know waitresses and bartenders were sold into slavery. I don't get it. And only Harrah's dealers work for tips? You sound silly and shortsighted. Maybe you can go start your own socialistic society somewhere and everyone will be treated fairly!!! |

[/ QUOTE ] "First, what else is anyone going to do in Tunica" Don't you have something to do SOMEPLACE else? "if it wasn't for those casino's no one would be there" You mean no BUSINESSES would be there. Excellent idea. The land is beautiful and sacred. God made it beautiful for people to live on it and grow food, look at the stars. "And only Harrah's dealers work for tips?" The public should not have to supplement the salaries of employees working for mega corporations. Are you going to toke the teller, on your next visit to a Chase bank? |

You crack me up......I can't believe we have to supplement the salaries of the waitress at Friday's either.....Those arrogant corporate bastards!!!
All dealers in every Casino in the world work for tips, just like most service industries. If you don't like it, then don't go to them. No one is making you play at a casino, or tip a dealer. Play online where you don't have to tip anyone and you can be cheap. And Tunica is anything but beautiful, and I didn't see any farmers anywhere. I am assuming you meant to say "Sacred"? Has anyone who has ever been to Tunica described it as Sacred? I must have missed something? |

You must be a Canadian. But, I stand by what I said, the land is sacred...s-a-c-r-e-d, whether you see it that way or not. |

There is actually a town by that name you know? Typical small town America... And you won't see any farmers this time of year [censored], it's in the middle of winter. |

Re: Myriad Casino approved in Tunica
Definitely not Canadian, and I am not at all upset. Just busting your chops over the fact that you are complaining that you need to tip dealers, that you hate Canadians for some unkown reason, and that you don't understand how the economy works. Relax, it will be OK! I am having a little fun with you and your rant, didn't mean to offend you so deeply.
I give up, you are right, we should all stop tipping everybody and all towns should be sacred like Tunica......All I know is the 20/40 at the Shoe is the best! |

Re: Myriad Casino approved in Tunica
I saw a news-story about such a development being possible quite awhile ago.
glad it's moving forward. Tunica needs SOMETHING more besides the casinos. In Las Vegas yhou have SO MUCH other stuff to do if gambling isn't your thing. The water-park and snow-park and stuff like that to make it more kid and family-friendly is what the area desperately needs. My GF is amazed that they just have all these casinos there and nobody is trying to do ANYTHING else down there to take advantage of the people that come. She's coming from the non-gambler mind-set of "what the hell is there to do there if I don't want to gamble for longer than 30 minutes?" The answer is that there is VERY LITTLE there in the way of family-entertainment, a night-club or something of that variety, etc etc. I think there's a lot more potential down there IF someone wants to try to take advantage of it. You have an area that already draws a ton of people from all over the area. Now just give them an alternative, ANY alternative, to all the gambling for maybe one of their days in town and many people will be interested. And some might even extend their stay. |
