Default awkward line with top pair

Table is unknown. It's my 2nd round and 2 other players are new as well, so the game was recently heads-up.

Don't really know what I think of this. At first it looks good except for the calling the raise part but i'm not certain im comfortable folding to the raise because they might interpret your strange line as a weakness. That said most unsophisticated 10/20 opponents will tend to call rather than raise here so maybe a case can be made for a bet/fold on the end. This is probably the more winning and sophisticated play. Check call has some merit too given the turn play and because of my reluctance to fold to the raise is probably the line i'd personally take. Interesting hand though

i dont get the turn check. hes folding nothing on the turn, all his weak peeling hands have a pair now. having him check a crappy pair is a disaster

a lot of players are peeling the flop with 2 "overs" (correctly) minus the ace here. if i can get a bet in on the turn vs. those hands, i gain an entire big bet, and if i bet they will fold or bluff-raise (which i think i have to call down).

i don't like my river donk, though. if he did hit the queen he would probably bet it.

dunno if this is FPS or just scared play, but checking the turn is a huge mistake.

Screwplaying the turn you can probably get an extra bet or two out of any crappy pair. This line makes it hard for mediocre players to fold.

Do you guys think you can reliably fold to a 3bet if we CR the turn? That's the one drawback. You get balls deep that way and could be drawing to a 3out chop.
