$1500 should be fine to get you going on the $8 & $11 rebuy sats. You might want to focus more on the $8rebuys with only the occasional $11 thrown in, but it's up to you.

A good guideline for bankrolling, would be 2% of your roll.
So in your case you would be rolled for $30 MTTs.

I will add a rebuy/sat bankroll section to the FAQ so hopefully these posts will cease.

Glad to hear it, badger...

In Charlie's defense (if that's even needed), it's one thing if the topic is somewhat obscure that the search function would be required, but simply looking at posts from the past two days would have answered this question...

double rebuy at every opportunity always

[/ QUOTE ]

This is bad advice and a great way to kill your ROI in satellite rebuys. The rebuy strategy clearly depends on the buy-in. You'll pretty much always want to double rebuy in a $3 rebuy turbos and basically never in a $39 rebuy sat.

Also I think this is a pretty interesting subject and one I posted a few weeks back in on of adanthar's satellite threads but didn't get much response to. At what point or what buyin relative to the seat value is it better to not double rebuy? Sometimes just getting to the addon period is worth more than a rebuy because so many players busto and quit before the rebuy period is over. A player that plays well has a huge edge over the rest of the field at this point and doesn't need as many chips as the average player to win a seat.

Jgunnip,

Interesting post. I took a look at the lobby of this morning's big 11R turbo to the Million. It got 424 entries, 617 rebuys, and 245 add-ons. That adds up to a total of 1408500 chips, and a total prize pool of $12860. Each rebuy and add-on is worth an average of $9.13, and each add-on is worth an average of $13.70. Thus if you simply maintain your starting stack until the add-on period, you'll have paid $21 for $22.83 worth of chips and that's not even taking into account your edge against the field. The extra money is coming directly out of the pockets of the people who double rebuy too much, and especially from the people who don't add-on.

If rebuys are only worth 90% of what they cost, then you want to double rebuy at the point where you're a good enough player that you can expect to recoup that lost value by outplaying your opponents. That doesn't really answer your question, I don't think I'm smart enough to give a proper answer.

[...]if you simply maintain your starting stack until the add-on period

[/ QUOTE ]... you're pretty much dead money in the satellite.

This has been dissected ad nauseam in this forum: The value of your chips in a satellite is not directly related to the aggregate prize sum, but to your chances of winning a seat when x seats are being given away - modified by your ability to maintain room to play and FE for as long as possible.

Or something like that.

In other words: As long as it makes sense to remain in the tournament you should always take a double re-buy and an add-on.

Plz link to where satellite rebuy strategy has been discussed ad nauseam before. if you always double rebuy and addon in a $39 rebuy for a $215 million seat you're ROI is going to have a low ceiling and you're qualifying rate isn't going to be that much higher than it is in a non-double rebuy strategy to overcome the extra money invested.

I've yet to see any indepth discussion regarding buyin/seat value ratios or anything like that when that is clearly the largest factor concerning if you double rebuy and how much you should gamble in the rebuy period. You can't play the smae strat in $1 rebuy to a 1K seat satellite as you would to a $16 rebuy to a 109 seat sat.

So saying that you should always double rebuy and addon is simply bad advice for satellites and it really needs to stop being posted.
