Default NL50, play for set value or bet the ace?

villain is kinda new to the table, but has 3-bet me in position 3 times in the last 10 hands. i've yet to really stick up to him.

i'm a cash game fish, admittedly, but don't i have to "make a stand" (i hate taht phrase) so as not to let him think i can just be pushed around and i check/fold to his 3-bet whenever i don't flop the nuts? or is check/folding like that fine to this kind of villain? i honestly don't know so be gentle :>

if I am making a move here, what is the best play and why?

tricky situation, would be good to see what he showsdown with his 3bet hand. How do you evaluate his cbet on the flop, does he always cbet 2/3? or only when he missed? make sure you get to know his cbet size and see what he shows down and then you might consider a raise to about 27$.

If you are being bullied, you could 4bet PF with TT. You probably should have bet the flop as you could've repped the Ace and shut down to further aggression if he doesn't fold.

As played I don't know what I would do. If you want to find out if he has the A...it's going to be expensive. And if he is a maniac/bully, you don't want to go broke to his Ax to your TT. I'm interested in hearing some other opinions here.

you can't call preflop for set value. If he's 3bet several times recently, I push preflop.

all of his c-bets seemed to be around 3/4 or 2/3 the pot. he also liked floating with air on dangerous boards (big cards with draws) and trying to represent them on the turn. he failed at that, not sure how relevant that is.

I wouldn't feel too bad about shoving the TT preflop, but that's just me. I don't like to flatcall and get outplayed post-flop when the A hits for a 26BB pot. (note: if I come off as sarcastic or critical of your play in a mean way that's not my intention)

doesn't this create very tricky situations on the turn when he flat calls? specifically when a diamond comes up and i'm totally lost in the hand.

EDIT:

nevermind, i just realized that makes this hand a lot easier to play on the turn.

4bet PF + Cbet = pretty much allin with effective stacks of $48. Why not shove PF and dispense with the fancy unnecessary decision making process?

c/f. 4 betting is fine, calling is fine with the intention of calling down when most flops aren't as bad as this.

You can't call PF purely for set value. I would call pf but not just for set value- I would intend on calling alot of blank flops. As played, I probably dump.
