Sounds more like they're worried about someone playing a Martingale system where they double bets every loser until they win. Having 3 guys lets them go 3 times the table limit.

[/ QUOTE ]

Why not just go find a higher limit table?

Duh.

It's not cheating the casino; it's a violation of the federal currency transaction reporting laws, which require all cash transactions of over 10k to be reported to the Department of Treasury here in the Land of the Free.

[/ QUOTE ]

How is putting a 15k bet on craps different to a large pot at NL 25/50? Why don't all these big poker games need to report every "transaction"?

Because the casino doesn't recieve the 50K pot in poker. It's a player-to-player transaction that the casino facilitates. In craps, the casino is wagering agaisnt the gambler.

I am by no means an expert in the currency transaction laws, but I don't believe a CTR is necessary until chips are cashed out. Chips in the pot are not "currency". I am sure that whenever the high stakes NL players buy chips or cash out for more than $10,000, a CTR is filed.

Here is one thing they dont like: (I will use TWO people doing this as the example since I am not sure how it would work with 3...

Lets say I bet PASS and my buddy bets DONT PASS every time.

Our aggregate win/loss will be dead even.

Yet, we will have bet a LOT of $$$ and thus usually receive a TON of comps...penthouse...limos...etc...

uhh, not exactly. Casinos should love this as they make their vig on the total action regardless of where on the table it's bet. But as you say, most ignorantly seem to frown upon it. And you may be getting some comps, but if you think you're breaking "dead even", you've got some studying to do.

All you're doing is eliminating variance for the house. Over time, they will win at exactly their expected rate -- with no chance of losing. At 108 rolls per hour, you should lose 3 wagers out of the 216 made. That's a composite of -1.388%, your back bet is still losing 1.364%, and your front is still losing 1.41%.

Who's talking about 15k? OP gave the 5k as an example for 3 players playing together to place bets above the table limit. They obviously wouldnt do this if a higher limit table was available.
