WOW
blown out at home by Gardner-Webb

ouch

it isn't a huge deal in basketball (unlike App St in football)

also, Kentucky is setting up a whole new rotation of guys and if they do well, it's easy to forget about a loss in November

many of the recent champs have some curious looking losses on their resumes

You'll have to go back a ways to find a champ with a loss like this. Maybe you'll find one that lost a conference game at home to a bad opponent but not to a middling Atlantic Sun team (and by 16 at that.) Kentucky is not close to being a contender. They look really young and need some time in the weight room.

unc lost to santa clara the year they won the title, but raymond felton didn't play (maybe someone else too). even so, it's not on the same level as losing to gardner webb.

I don't think that was at home, was it?

I don't think the loss was horrible or anything for Kentucky. This is hoops not football, where their title hopes would be over already LOL. GW actually looked really good in the game. Lots of teams would have lost to them tonight.

UNC lost to Santa Clara in Oakland, California on what I think was a "neutral" court.

The only thing that makes me think this loss is worse than it appears is that Gardner Webb was picked eighth in their conference this year.

on a rivals.com message board many UK fans are blaming this loss on the horrible roster Tubby left behind. It appears the horse is not truley considered dead until the vaulters leave.

Very true-ish.

Notre Dame is obviously a few years late for this excuse. UK is not.
