And yeah, your L.A. ranking is silly. L.A. was the 4th best team in the West(perhaps in the league) last year before the injury bug hit them. If I put the over/under on the Lakers finish at #8, would you really bet the under?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'd bet that they finish worse than 7.5.

I think thats a pretty borderline bet. If you made it 8, then I'd take it with you. But with N.O. and Memphis looking improved its going to be much harder to make the playoffs this year. Of course there could be a team that falls off, but its really tough to pick one.

With how much certainty does one of Dallas, San Antonio or Phoenix make the Finals? 85%+? I think the NBA should extend the regular season and push the playoffs down to four teams per conference. Or, less. Playoffs take three months as it is and most of the teams in it don't have much chance. Kind of silly.

Houston's actually pretty deep this year. If Yao and TMac are healthy, they are a very good team. My only concern with them is adaping to a new system/coach.

On a somewhat parallel topic, when does anyone think the next time David Stern will show his ugly smug mug here in Phoenix?

When he presents Steve Nash with the Finals MVP award next June. Not before that though, unless he has extensive security detail.

I think 9th for Sac is optimistic. They're just not that good. I'm a Jazz fan, and I think they could finish 4th, but they need to figure out Kirilenko's role, if any, with this team. He looked like the odd man out in the playoffs last year when DW and Boozer took the team over. And, yes, I'm afraid no more All-Star appearances for Okur, lol, even though he was very important to the team when Boozer was out and did a better-than-expected defensive job on Yao in the playoffs. I think 5th is more realistic.

As long as they let San Antonio pound on Nash during the playoffs, I can't see the Suns getting there. They'd need someone else (Mavs, who else?) to eliminate SA so they wouldn't have to play them.

When he retires, like everyone else who lives there.
