In that case maybe he was tired of you raising, I'm sure you'd been c-betting quite a bit, too. You may have been ahead on the flop, but I still think that theres a good chance he tried to steal the pot with Ax.

I'm pretty content to 3-bet the flop and get it all in. If you have a decent image I think you see TT/99 more than enough to make it worth it.
