Visa Gift to Go (prepaid card) worked until a couple months ago. PokerStars support told me that the Visa people decided not to allow use of the prepaid cards at gambling sites.

Why is pokerstars so popular when it offers no rakeback?

I'm assuming due to somewhat playable micro levels so it's a decent beginner's site? By the way, I'm just waiting on ePassporte to add the funds to my account, so I'm on my way (I think). I'm sure everyone was dying for that update LOL. Incidentally, I love this forum and appreciate the responses/help I've gotten.

It has the most players and so the most tables running. Also, it's one of the few large sites that admit Americans.

For a beginner, go to FTP and get rakeback.

For a beginner bonusses and rakeback are very important. They can help you break-even or give you a small profit for your bankroll. So check out the best bonus/RB/gift-offers you can get.

Obviously for a beginner it's hard to deposit $600 and get the bonus playing 0.01/0.02 cashgames.

I would recommend after playing some playmoney (just for the sake of getting a feeling with NLH), you deposit $50 on Pokerstars, which is a duable amount for beginners and learn the game. After a couple of months (depending how much you play per day) with some solid poker you get the $50 bonus and maybe some nice gift like Pokertracker for free.

Maybe now you are playing 0.10/0.25 or 0.25/0.50 and you have enough money to look around at another (softer) site and get the $600 or $1000 bonus playing those stakes and above. After some weeks/months you get the deposit bonus and you move to another site and do the same thing etc, etc, etc.

Pokerstars software, traffic and service are really good and that's a very big plus for their site. It's just a pity that they don't have rakeback.
