Default Bigger Games at Potowatomi?

There's a rumor they've got 20+ names on a list for a 30-60 hold'em on Tuesday. I'm wondering if any regular can confirm this. And whether it's true or not...

What's the chance this game will actually get off with any regularity? Do they have a bigger NL game yet (25/50 no max)?

A lot of us Chicago donkeys would like to start heading up there again if the games can get off. When the room first opened the 20/40 was great, but only lasted a few months for some reason. Then I heard it became a white chip room.

What do you think? Will the new and improved room be spreading some bigger games?

Oh, and do they still have that silly rule about no cell phones in the entire BUILDING? Sorry, but that was pretty lame.

Last time I was there they had an interest list for 5-10 NL 400/1000 max I think. I am pretty sure they had a 10/20 LHE game running but I may have misheard the floor guy when they opened the table. They also had interest lists for 15/30, 20/40 AND 30/60 each with the same 3 or 4 names. This was last Friday BTW.

There was one time I know of they ran a 5-10NL game. It was at the request of the players at the table at the time. Not sure if they bumped the but to $1000 (think so).

On Saturday they had 4 NL tables running (one broke). I wouldn't be surprised if a higher stakes game became available if there is pressure. They may wait a bit, as many of the dealers are still new and might be a bit overwhelmed if the stakes were high.

Bigger games won't happen at Potowatomi. Chicago players will be going to Four Seasons (opens this year) and Horseshoe, Hammond when they open a room. Some Milwaukee players themselves will be leaving town to play, by the end of this year. Those who seek higher "action" won't have an option.

How long were the lists last weekend? I plan on being up at least 2 of the next 3 weekends, perhaps all 3.

The lists are much better these days, and they don't even have the room up to full capacity yet. I think there are currently 12 or 13 tables running with 4 or 5 more to go. In any case, the idea is that they will start to spread higher limit games 20/40 and 30/60 with a 3 dollar rake.

There is currently a huge list for 30/60 which is scheduled to start on Tuesday at noon. They are also looking to do tournaments and switch the NL games to a time rake ($8/half hour) but it takes forever for these changes to get approved by whoever does the approving.

I disagree. If the Potty made a commitment to holding higher limit games then people that are within driving distance are going to show up. Plus the poker room (have you been there yet?) is actually pretty pleasant now (as opposed to the hole it was in before) and it seems like the floor and management are trying to crack down on the previous inconsistancy that went on there.

Obviously mostly all the players there now are either white chip players (2/4, 3/6), or 3/5 NL players (which is not really a low stakes game...), but I think if you look at who shows up in those games (mostly Illinois residents from Northern Illinois and Wisconsin locals), it's not inconceivable that if certain games existed and enough people in the area wanted to play in those games that they would show up. It's just quicker to get here then it is to drive thru the entire city of Chicago and into Indiana.

If they lived right in the city or south of it, it's probally a lot diffrent, then they are most likely not going to go to Milwaukee to play.

Most people are not going to go thru the hassle and inconvience of wasting time driving to play poker, especially if it's a regular event for them. If the Potty room was still a hole and most people get a bad vibe from playing there you might have somewhat of a point, but I really dont think it's that bad anymore.

Some people drive for over an hour and see a line of cars and get scared and leave, are they really going to want to drive thru or into the city of Chicago where half the time you are stuck in line just to get to the next mile??

(and keep in mind that I am a low limit player and I dont care if they spread bigger limit games or not, but if they make a commitment to it, people would rather show up here, then drive too far elsewhere)

I think you have a misconception on the driving in and around Chicago. I do most of my playing on Friday nights and the weekends. I live 25 miles north of downtown Chicago. It is shorter and slightly quicker for me to get to the Indiana casinos on a weekend day than it is to get to the Pot. I choose to go to the Pot for several reasons, though without the mid-level games going consistently (5-10 and up), it makes the Pot a poor choice compared to Resorts.

Magoo, What is Four Seasons and where is it located?

"Four Winds" (my error). Opens third quarter 2007. That's where the poker action will be. Very first I-94 exit after you cross the Indiana state line into Michigan.
