Re: OT: [censored] thread, July, READ RULES IN TOP POST
Depends on how much better you are. If you had any way of knowing how often you would win if you played that out you could probably get a real answer.

Kevin, re my 335 SNG... I was adopting an innovative approach to bankroll management - nuff said!
Not really, I have learned, through bitter experience (Hi Suzzer [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] ) that nothing differentiates pro from amateur more than good BRM. But I'm still a donk, so my coping strategy is to allow myself shots at levels outside my bankroll and skill roll when I'm running ahead of my financial expectations. Psychologically, I'm playing with extra money I didn't expect. This means I mentally split the cash into extra profits, and personal pleasure ie playing over my head. Collateral benefits are that as I move up I have no fear of higher levels, and occasionally I make a nice score which subsidises future extra-BRM adventures, while never risking my "true" bankroll. |

BRM is overrated. Poker players can't be scared of money. It's counter-indicated.

Re: OT: [censored] thread, July, READ RULES IN TOP POST
This is a live 2-20 spread limit hand. Blinds 1/2
I am in UTG +2 UTG limps I raise to 8 with QQ. Tricky player MP1 who likes to isolate against me makes it 18. Folds to tricky/aggressive player on button who makes it 38. I call. MP1 raises to 58. Button calls. I call. Pot is $158. Flop comes Q44. I lead for $20 MP1 folds Button calls. Turn is a Q. I lead for $20 Button folds. **I have been making a conscious effort to play as straightforwardly as possible. At the time, I felt that at least one of these guys has AA or KK, so I was looking to be raised on the flop. Should I have check-raised the flop? How about the turn? What's the best way to get value here? |

Re: OT: [censored] thread, July, READ RULES IN TOP POST
Spread limit is really pretty fun, it combines the thrill of No Limit with the brain crushing agony of getting rivered in Limit.
Here's another hand from the same table: I don't remember the pot specifics, but I flopped a DGS. I checked and the CO took the lead in the hand with the button (passive calling station type) calling behind and me calling on both the flop and river. I hit my draw on the river with a 2, and led out for the max $20 which caused the CO to call and the button to fold. Did I miss value by suddenly leading (although the draw was deceptive)? In the case of an aggressive bettor, and willing caller, did I miss a bet or even two with my river bet? |

great dramabomb of the week: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...page=&vc=1
short version: shonky tournament operator secretly takes money from prize pool, claims that it was going to charity, and then doctors documents to retrospectively add it to the tournament documentation |
