Ok, I was over-exaggerating, it isnt mindless but it is boring,. My friend saw him and told me it was him playing a uke for like 2 hours on top of a table. IDK how this motivated him to buy the CD

I don't find it boring at all; if you do, I probably can't help you. I'm a huge fan of pop songwriting with orchestral arrangements and the like.

Is Jens Lekman anything like this dude? I saw him on Carson Daly's late night show for about a minute (had finished a show on my DVR and that happened to be on live TV when I switched back) and I honest to god thought he was mentally retarded and that his appearance was supposed to be some feel-good story. Regardless, that sums up most of my feelings on new-age indie rock where everyone tries to be interesting by playing some weird instruments and singing like a goddamn pussy all the time. Use some distortion on that guitar you gaywads.

Where is Will9 (sp?) when you need him. A conversation about crappy music tastes wouldn't be complete without him!

I have no idea; I've not heard of that dude before. I think Jens is more of a cross between Jonathan Richman and Morrissey, myself-- a little bit lovelorn, a little bit witty, a little bit melodramatic, same flair for arrangements as Moz, etc.

But here, you tell me:
"Sipping on the Sweet Nectar"
"The Opposite of Hallelujah" (live)
"Friday Night at the Drive-in Bingo"

I dunno, some people don't dig it, and others have told me they absolutely loved it. I think if you listen to the whole album (Night Falls Over Kortedala) straight through, you'll have a better idea of why I like him. I got this album and took to it immediately and didn't listen to anything else for about a month. I don't expect anyone else to like it THAT much, but hopefully they at least find it good.

Okay, I listened to the first song that came up on Youtube for Paolo Nutini, and... I guess it's comparable in some ways, but he feels like much more of a lightweight than Jens, both in his arrangements and as a songwriter. (Shoes? Really? Who cares?)
