Default Putting a player on a hand pre-flop

I have been playing for about 6 months and lately have been cashing about 65% of the time in $2-$5 sng tourneys. Have also won a couple large multi table tourneys. My question Preflop, how can you put a person on a hand when almost everybody raises 3 times the BB. Not so much for entering the hand but for play like on turn and river. For example, lets say it is early in SNG and you have no info on the players yet.

The UTG player raises 3 times the BB
You are in late position with QQ and call the raise
Everyone else folds
Flop comes 7 4 J all different suits
UTG bets 1/2 pot, representing an overpair or 2 high cards like AK you call
Turn comes Ace and UNG bets 1/2 pot again.

How can you tell if you are beat? I guess instead of just calling pre-flop or after the flop you could reraise but if you are beat you just lost more chips and if the player is not playing correctly he may call you anyway.

Any advice?
