i go to 300, just because 2.5x makes you look like a bitch

edit: also, i think its treated almost exactly the same as the 2.5x raise, so you get a little more value

If we raise river it should be something comical like a minraise (w/ intentions of folding to a 3b)

But I think its pretty damn thin and I think raising the river is probably a small mistake in SNGs

[/ QUOTE ]

after talking to a few ppl about it i may feel pretty strongly about a minraise or making it 2.5x. the way this hand played out is really weird in him putting me on Ax hands or too many real powerful hands, so i think any hand he leads twice with will call at least a minraise on the river. if hes bluff shoving, congratu-[censored]-lations, not really a factor here as i dont expect it to happen much and dont have a tough decision when it does.

bc of my issues assigning and weighting ranges given the way it played out im not convinced it has to be always and only a call yet. waiting on what everyone else has to say as well.

[/ QUOTE ]

See while I agree with most of this, I think the raise is slightly unprofitable because of his calling range, not because of his 3b-bluff frequency (which should be close to 0%).

If we posted this hand from his perspective and gave him A2os with you raising river to 300, I imagine the consensus will be "FOLD FOLD FOLD". In fact, I'm not really sure what hands in his range we are trying to get value from. It seems like hes never calling a river raise with a worse hand.

His calling range (if hes a solid player/handreader) should be very very tight. Because of this, we need to loosen his call range enough to make the raise profitable (by decreasing our raise size/minraising).

I prefer:

call > minraise > 300

even in a cash game you have to be ahead >50% of the time he calls in order to justify raising. flat river

Imo river raise is pretty bad without some in depth reads, just flat it.

Aspoker,
River should be a fold with A2, but that doesn't mean he makes it. Villain is a good reg, but like everyone he still spews occasionally.
BTW what is the worst hand we raise here?
Q8/9? K8/9?

also i dont know how well he knows me (other than knowing loosely that i multi table and know him) and i certainly dont know how he plays unraised pots bvb in a spot like this. that combined with pudge's statements is why it seemed so close to me. if no one else has anything new to contribute (thank you to all who have), ill post results soon.

Cognitive dissonance

If he gets there with A-rag, he's calling often enough.

well, if anyone cares about results:

I raised to 300 on the river, and he tanked and called with KQ, and his two pair nutted on my 2 pair.

I was very surprised he didnt raise pf but now im not sure if he raises Ax pf either which obviously begs the question as has been discussed, of, does he have Ax here enough? a few peoples comments are now leading me to believe its closer combined with results.

welcome to the forum.

did not read the replies, but i just call and get to showdown vs a winning regular. i dont think he is calling much of a raise with anything you beat. i guess you could min raise and probably get him to dump another 100 or so...
