Why can't I have a signature?

When I go to enter a signature in my profile, it says I can have a maximum of 0 characters. Why am I not allowed to have a signature?

Signatures are disabled on 2+2, no one has them. This was accomplished in the software by setting the maximum number of characters to zero.
