It depends what you mean by worth it. I have one that gives 1-3% cashback and I like it, and I try to use it as much as possible.

Chase Platinum rewards offers 5% cash back

For travel, usually American Express Starwood is the highest rated.

Balance transfer $40,000 of 0% credit card debt into Emigrant, hold it for a year, and make $2000 in interest for free!

Without knowing your credit score you probably won't qualify for the top tier rewards cards.

I second the Starwood AMEX card. It is the only card that I have ever paid an annual fee for and it's bargain at $30... and the first year is free. They frequesntly run offers for 10k SPG points with first for applying for the card. When you get to 20k points you can transfer then to most airlines for 25k miles (you get a 25% bonus)... so you earn rewards at 1.25%. If you know you to take advantage of frequent flyer miles, you can often redeem miles at 2 cents per mile so I put the true rewards value of this card at 2.5%.

The cool thing is, you can also book hotel roooms at any Starwood properties using your points and the redemption rates are a good value. You can also get an additional 20k points for funding a TD Ameritrade account with an initally deposit of 25k. You just have to keep your deposit with them for 9 months.

I would get this card if you want the best card for travel rewards (and you know how to work the airlines frequent flyer programs) or if you stay in hotels often.
