I liked Ben Graham's "The Intelligent Investor" updated edition with commentary by Jason Zweig.

"Securities Analysis" by Graham and Dodd is probably excellent, but I haven't read it.

I did read "The Warren Buffet Way" by Hagestrom and was disappointed. I had been led to believe this book would help me become a better value investor. Instead, I found it to be more of a look-how-smart-warren-buffet-is book that wasn't too helpful in practice.

"The Great Investment Strategy", by John Kane, should be released in July.

topics include:
- Follow tips in magazines
- Balanced portfolios are for suckers
- Put your emotions into investing; Sell in fear, buy when your feeling high.
- Past performance indicates future performance
- Who needs to read the balance sheet when the trend is up up up.

should be a good read.

John, I usually read your posts and think "this kid is going to get absolutely slaughtered"; but, your sarcastic, self-criticism convinces me that there may be a bright future for you after all.

You could start with Buffett's list in the old Reading List sticky.

Warren Buffett Way, Intelligent Investor, Common Stocks and Uncommon Profits, Eddie Lamperts book (not sure name).

The only chapter of Intelligent Investor I'd really recommend is Chapter 20 on Margin of Safety. I am just starting to get into the field myself as a college kid.
