Re: CAZ Trip Report (Short)
[ QUOTE ]
And then there is the regular badbeat jackpot which is seeded at $7500 and goes up about $1700 a day until hit, which requires AAATT or better beat by quads or better, and both hands must play, and no one else in the pot may beat the AAATT hand. [/ QUOTE ] I was at a 4/8 table at CAZ with a friend who made a royal flush on the turn, couldn't help but show it to me (I wasn't in the hand). Another king came on the river. When the friend turned over his royal, the table went nuts in anticipation of the other guy having KK (since he capped the betting). Unfortunately he turned over JJ for a made boat and we got nothing. |

UPDATE: The SSNL forum is welcoming live 5-150 and 10-150 spread limit strategy posts. [/ QUOTE ] Excellent. The advice in that forum will be very applicable to the 5-150 game. (Just in case, no, that's not sarcasm. [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] SSNL forum). |

Re: CAZ Trip Report (Short)
[ QUOTE ]
They aren't betting lines. When CAZ first put them in I pointed out to a floor person that the lines were a bad idea and that they weren't far enough forward. She told me that they weren't sure if they were going to use them as betting lines or not and that the design people had 'gotten it wrong' so I said this'll lead to double confusion and here you have it. The regulars are used to it and visitors think it's a betting line. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, that's pretty lame. If the company doing the layouts really did screw them up, they should have made it right. [ QUOTE ] I haven't played the 40 enough to comment much on this but when I first started some guy pulled a move like this on me which caused me to fold my BB for what turned out not to be a raise because I'd taken my eye off the action so it's really my fault. [/ QUOTE ] Rule #1 is always protect yourself, but man, the dealers should do more to cut that nonsense out. The only price paid when they do it to me is that I have to slow the action down and verbally get confirmation from the dealer when I am in doubt. But the real negative is obviously what happens when these guys succeed. [ QUOTE ] Many of the floor people bring racks. Some don't. This is a bit on the picky side. [/ QUOTE ] A little picky, but that's the difference between mediocre/good and excellent service. Plus, it's really easy to fix and train and I'm real sure that I'm not the only player who would apprciate not having to walk all the way to the cage to get more racks. Next time I'll be sure and say something. Kind of was a last minute trip. |

Re: CAZ Trip Report (Short)
I'm all for tipping the dealers big, but if they get pissed off when you tip a dollar, there's another amount you could switch to that would cure them real quick. $0.
Some may be surprised to hear that coming from me, but dealers not thanking players, or giving them a half-assed thanks pisses me off to no end. It should be obvious to a bystander that you thanked a player for a tip. If it's not, you don't deserve one. Al |

Re: CAZ Trip Report (Short)
As usual, Al, you are correct. But let me add a little math.
If a dealer deals 40 hands per hour and gets tipped an average of $1 every other hand, that adds $20/hr to his/her wage. Even if that wage is $5/hr, with tips they're making $25/hr which, if anybody is interested, is more per hour than 75% of nurses earn. |

[/ QUOTE ] Forty hands per hour is an unrealistic sustained rate, even with an automatic shuffler. As is often mentioned here, dealers don't/aren't allowed to sit in the box 40 hours per week. Even if a dealer is fortunate enough to be employed 40 hours per week in a high traffic room, not all of that time will be in the box and that room won't necessarily be fully busy all those 40 hours. Also, subtract out lunch/breaks/bathroom, etc. Dealers can make more money than you intimate, but not in the way you suggest. It's from getting tips of more than $1. each. |
