CAZ Trip Report (Short)
40-80 half kill as soft as ever. It's honestly been 2+ years since I've been in a game that good.
Inconsistent enforcement of bet line from dealers. Angle shooting locals all over. I can't count the number of times I made the dealer clarify their action. One guy would stop when the action was on him, literally stare left for like 4-one-thousand, hope someone acted behind him, then act. Others would make silent "checks" and the dealers wouldn't announce their action. One guy loved to take enough chips to raise, stack enough to call. Leave his hand out there and hope you reacted, then pull back his hand or keep stacking chips for a raise depending on what you did. Again, no help from dealers in terms of clarifying when someone's action had been completed. Once I asked a dealer and was told "he called" even though the player hadn't said anything verbally and still had a stack of chips in his hand and over the betting line right next to the 8 chips he had put on the felt to call. For a place that has constant must-moves, I am astounded that they never bring racks to the table for those who have to move. wtf. Like Vegas in that all the local "pros" have to comment on the goodness/badness of this and other tables. Dealers get pissed here when you only toke $1/pot regardless of size. The betting line, if they keep it, should be moved in more around the edges. Players constantly put their bets right on or even right behind the line, making it a real tough reach for even tall dealers. And despite the inconvenience to the dealer and me occassionally pushing the chips forward for the dealer, the players seem to totally not care. Even the better players seemed highly susceptible to full-on raging monkey tilt. Was kind of funny. Bottom line: Games are great, but actively protect yourself from angle shooting while playing. |

Re: CAZ Trip Report (Short)
Informative trip report. Thanks.
btw, What's the mix of "limit" vs "big spread limit" that you noticed there (percentage say, 50-50?)? |

[/ QUOTE ] I saw no spread limit going (two days, 4hrs each day). Generally three or four 20-40's, and two 40-80's (half kill) with sporadic 60-120 mix or 60-120 hold'em. |

It's honestly been 2+ years since I've been in a game that good.", the style of play is like Commerce, some of the best games I have ever played in yet also frustrating at times because of the angles the players try to get away with. This time last year there was 5 + 20/40 ganged together games and 2-3 40/8 games going all the time, and there was only 1-2 tables of 5-150 (the spread limit game Howard asked about). Last time I was at CAZ 2 months ago there was more 5-150 spread limit tables than all the higher mid limit games combined! Regardless, CAZ is still limit heaven. [ QUOTE ] Dealers get pissed here when you only toke $1/pot regardless of size. [/ QUOTE ] I never noticed this. |

Re: CAZ Trip Report (Short)
Casino Arizona is a great place to play limit poker. Nice atmosphere and plenty of good middle limit holdem games. I played at Gila River last time in AZ and it was the smokiest casino I have ever been in so I won't return there. Sorry to hear about the angle shooting but I can't wait to get back to CAZ to try these games again.
Are all the mid limits (6/12, 8/16, etc..) kill games there? |

Re: CAZ Trip Report (Short)
I don't play limit but I don't think there is a 6/12 game. If I remember from when I put my name on the 5/150 board I think it's just 3/6, 4/8 and 8/16 for the low/mid limits. I could be wrong, however.
The 5/150 is very soft. They usually run about 4-6 tables of it. The 10/150 is insane but only spread one table or two so the wait can be brutal during busy times. Great place to play. Great tv set up if you like to watch some sports while you play. Food is decent. Dealers, for the most part, are pretty good. |

If only I knew you were coming to town I would have bought you a drink out there and we could finally finish our conversation and agree that the 1993 Suns >>> 1993 Bulls. Re: CAZ Trip Report (Short)
Spread limit has taken over, but it hasn't really affected the 20/40+ games. There are usually 2-3 20/40 games, and 2 40/80 games going, with 60/120 occasionally, and 75/150 totally dead (very rare). There are usually 5-7 5/150 games going, and 1 10/150, again pretty rare to get a 2nd 10/150 game going.
As for another poster, yes there is a 6/12 game. The lower limits are comprised of 3/6, 4/8, 6/12, and 8/16 full kill limit hold'em, 3/6 and 6/12 full kill omaha, 3/6 stud and 6/12 stud hi/lo (occasional). There are about 10 3/6 games, 6-8 4/8 games, and 1-3 each of the 6/12 and 8/16 games going. Hope this helps anyone! |
