Default Answers to questions about ACism

[ QUOTE ]
This AC thing sounds like rubbish, and I'm surprised that anyone would actually believe it could work.

In AC land who prints the money, and currency?

[/ QUOTE ]

Anybody who wants to. Since anybody could print it, it'd be worthless. Presumably you'd need to carry gold around, if you wanted to buy stuff.

[ QUOTE ]
What about the military? Who pays for the tanks?

[/ QUOTE ]

If you wanted a tank, you'd need to pay for it yourself. The good news is nobody cuts you off in traffic.

Beat: They get terrible gas mileage.

[ QUOTE ]
How do you have ranks, when ranks go against everything AC stands for.

[/ QUOTE ]

When you signed up, you'd sign a contract. If you wanted to renegotiate, you'd need to hire a Dispute Resolution Organization, who'd contact the military's Dispute Resolution Organization, and they'd agree on Neutral Arbitrator to resolve the Dispute.

[ QUOTE ]
Does every single private in a 2 million strong army have their own say?

How do you pay those soldiers since defense is a negative sum operation, and derives the money from the citizens.

[/ QUOTE ]

It'd be based on voluntary contributions. If you weren't happy with the sevice with the service you were getting from your army, you'd simply hire another one.

[ QUOTE ]
If there is no military, what do you do when you get invaded?

[/ QUOTE ]

If you get invaded, it's statism's fault, not ACism's.

[ QUOTE ]
Who makes laws,

[/ QUOTE ]

Everybody gets to make up their own laws.

In a free legal market in laws, obv the best laws would win out.

It works for shoes, doesn't it?

Anyway, can you show how it WON'T work?

[ QUOTE ]
especially ones dealing with international trade such as tariffs. Who makes laws dealing with environmental issues such as commercial fishing, and management of oil reserves.

[/ QUOTE ]

The problem with commercial fishing is that nobody owns the fish. Once the fish were given owners, there'd be no problems.

[ QUOTE ]
Who is responsible for foreign relations with other countries?

[/ QUOTE ]

There'd have to be a free market in foreign relations. Obv., the best foreign relator would win out.

[ QUOTE ]
If no foreign relations are expected, what do you do when a band of [censored] [censored] up (i.e. people cross the border and do something stupid), obviously the other governments will want retribution or someone to hold responsible for such transgressions.

Who builds roads? Are all the road builders part of a firm?

[/ QUOTE ]

All the roads would be built by private companies, who would charge you to use them.

Bad news: can't walk to the park anymore without paying for it.

Good news: the park would be super neat, because private enterprise always does everything better than the govt.

[ QUOTE ]
National museums and institutions would be privatized?

[/ QUOTE ]

Of course.

What about universities, you would still need a dean? Again a position of power, something that conflicts with the nature of AC'ness as I understand.[quotes]

ACists have nothing against power. They just want it to be based on how much money they have, rather than on democratic principles and the rule of law.

[ QUOTE ]
What happens when multiple people run a business and they disagree with each other? Does one person simply shoot the other, if there is no legal system to conduct rights and responsibilities?

[/ QUOTE ]

There's a private legal system, where everybody voluntarily goes to court when they get sued/accused of a crime.

It works, because they'll ruin your credit rating if you don't comply.

[ QUOTE ]
What do you do when a person rises up and gets a backing, and rivals the very nature of AC? I.E. He builds an army and makes himself dictator, which would without a doubt happen almost immediately.

[/ QUOTE ]

It won't happen, because being a dictator isn't profitable, according to ACism.

[ QUOTE ]
Someone remarked making AC work in Iraq? Heh, one of the many militia groups would become the new government.

It's human nature to have someone in a position of power. A lot like the queen bee, without her a colony dies.

I could go on, and on, and on... but these are serious questions. I just do not see how this would work.

Linus, you probably should have taken the hint when Woolygimp's thread was locked.
