Default The Wonder of it all, When will foxwoods get it all right?

I've been to foxwoods for the last 2 WPT events, the 1st was in the old poker room upstairs but also my first ever cash in the 600$ limit event. The 2nd one was in the brand new downstairs room, with all sorts of promising changes in computerized tabled and this and that, they'd almost decided to join the rest of the poker rooms on earth and start fixing all their well known dumb quirks...

lol was i wrong. in their defense they have created a very well structured no limit side with the new 500$-2k$ 5-10NL Game, 2500$ Min 10-25, and 5k Min 25-50 (which has run all 3 days i've been here)

But...

There are no chip runners AND cash does not play once you bet it, it has to be broken into chips and if it's over 1000$ the floor has to verify it, this is slow at low limit games but it's a joke at games like the 10-25NL where the floor has to routinely verify dropping 5k and 10k bundles. 10 handed live games are slow enough without this [censored]. Cash plays everywhere on earth and quite frankly it should not be necessary to go get my own chips

No 1k or larger chips in the poker room. If you aren't going to allow cash to play then you need to have a USEABLE inventory of 1k and 5k chips, the bellagio games run so efficiently chip wise because each game has a well defined chip type for play and players can make simple chip transactions with 5k and 1k chips, carrying a lot of cash around is dangerous, flags are my currency of choice.

The waitlists were supposed to be fixed by gimicky on table computers meant to somehow one up the MGM grand, i mean i wish i was making this [censored] up but there are pieces of paper still taped up on the out of order registration kiosks and the computers in the tables still have the old table placards on them with the limits for the game on them.

Now to signing up for a game (if you know which ones are running, on sundays the lists are nowhere to be seen) you get to wait in the same old line for a much more centralized (and slower) process. Also, big buyin tournament, satelite, and SNG registration is the same line, even harrahs got that one right.

Their table layout is still one of the most ridiculous things i've ever seen in my life, 1-3 stud next to 20-40 limit next to 20-40 stud next to 5-10 NL, a 10-25 game in the middle of satelites with a rope around in because there is a crowd 3 deep thats never seen a god damn green chip game in their life. Some may think this is cool but if i'm playing in the 3rd biggest game in the room why am in the busiest part of the room nowhere near bathrooms food or the cashier

No TV's in the main tournament room, the tournament is run with dry erase boards, a kitchen timer, and a guy with a microphone who if you're lucky will tell you how long till the next level or how many people are left

No red bull, No 24 hour food available, No food services for high limit games, Not enough massueses (although 20$/15 minutes is the best rate i've seen in a good casino)

oh and finally, tournament dealers who make huge dramatic shows of running out boards when 2 players are all in, is this a dealers way of living out their dreams of dealing on the WPT?

I'm really spending 3 weeks here? good thing i though ahead and brought my own red bull and grey goose.

This was all brought on by a floorman today who made bring my messanger bag (in which i keep all my poker stuff) back to my room because it was a security risk, whats the difference between my bag and some woman with a louis vuitton bag you could fit a child into?

Why do the worst players on the face of the earth have to play at THIS casino?

You just wrote the best general review of Foxwoods I have ever seen!

As far as your last question ...

... let me offer some insight that might help answer this question.

Last year I spent eleven (11) months working in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire and I obviously spent a lot of time in the old Foxwoods poker room. I very much enjoyed my time there because in general the players were the worst I have ever seen anywhere.

On several occasions I had drunken conversations with friends about Foxwoods and we jointly came to some conclusions that at the time made sense but when analyzed in a sober state left me wondering.

Maybe these revelations will help you deal with your remaining time at Foxwoods and maybe you can offer additional observations to help tie this all together.

The area within about 100 miles of Foxwoods is unlike anything I have ever seen. There are many generalizations to be drawn from these following statements but taken as a whole they help to understand the typical local player at Foxwoods.

1) The population is comprised of very short people. I actually saw a sign on a dry cleaners in Warwick, RI that said "Pants Shortened, $5". I have never seen this anywhere else in all my travels.

2) There is a donut store on every intersection. Sometimes two. WTF is up with all the donut eaters?

3) This was spawned from deep conversations about #1 and #2 above. Donuts obviously stunt your growth. The possible effects on your poker game could also be as dramatic.

4) The women are fugly. The average woman who lives in this area looks like a cross between Charles DeGaul and Bill Frawley (played Fred on the old "I Love Lucy" TV show).

5) The local fish apparently have a union. They are forced to wear sports team jerseys and/or hats. Sunglasses are optional.

6) Locals take great offense if you question their abilities. Locals can be identified by their odd use of language. Examples: instead of the word "why" they will often say "how come", they will use "then" instead of "than" and their user names on websites will include references to their favorite sports teams or the city they live in.

The other items were too obscure to post. We obviously had switched to tequila and gone off on some strange tangents but I think all the above is relevant and gives one something to think about with regards to the local Foxwoods players.
