Firing multiple barrels
Just a basic question.
How often should I fire second barrels? Should a turn cbet be standard? |

Re: Firing multiple barrels
i think this is a very "feel" situation question. if you feel that your opponent (or opponents) will call you down with second or third pair then you may want to back off, especially if you have nothing and if you have been caught bluffing.
on the other hand if you feel that they are on a draw, then go ahead and fire another shell to represent a strong hand. of course this is a very basic, basic answer. there are tons of intricacies that determine whether or not to cbet the turn. the texture of the flop, your table image, the size of the pot. hope this helps a little. |

This is for limit, but might also be helpful for NL. |

Re: Firing multiple barrels
some calling stations will float the flop with anything, then give up on the turn, some calling stations will call down all the way, you must identify the different opponents.
also, its a good idea to double barell if the board texture changes, and the change looks like it will improve your hand, so for ex. you CB a 832r flop, and a king turns up on the turn, here is a perfect time to fire the 2nd barell. conversely, if a 2 comes off on the turn, it is hard to represent your hand improving, so a stubborn opponent will continue to call if he has a hand similar to 44-77 |
