Default .5/1 having midpair on a flushdraw board

Just sat down, no reads on villain

PokerStars 0.50/1.00 Hold'em (7 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, MP2 calls, <font color="#666666">4 folds</font>.

Flop: (5.50 SB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP2 raises</font>

Ive been in these situation alot and I dont really know how to play them. Is he protecting top pair? Is he on a flushdraw and raising for a free card?

Should I raise once more here?

Lets say I call and this happens:
Turn: (4.75 BB) T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero ?</font>

Lets say I call and this happens:
Turn: (4.75 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero ?</font>

How are my lines here?

He cold-calls your raise, and raises you on the flop where you have a hand that is marginal at this stage and you don't know anything about him. Fold. Yes, you have 8.5-1, but that is not much with a 2 outer + bdsd, neither actually guarantees that you win. 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] is rather scary, right?

Hypothetical turns: check/fold.

If you call the turn, you should call the river - nothing really has changed. I'd fold the turn though: If he was raising for a fd, he got it, if he had TP you have 6 outs and don't quite get the odds. Plus, he could just have CC'ed with 33/77...

I agree he is either betting with top pair or a flush draw. Either way you are most likely behind on the turn either drawing dead or with 6 outs. It should be an easy fold on the turn.

Do note I posted 2 turns. How do you play it when the 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] hits?

Well if you call the turn then you should call the river as well.

Or maybe he is raising the flop with a lower pair, straight or flush draw, because you could have made a standard c-bet on the flop with whiffed overcards.

You have no read, so I 3-bet the flop and plan on leading the turn.

If villain caps the flop, I am check/folding the turn unimproved.

Why get into a battle with ONE player who may have you covered already with top pair......not to mention a possible flush draw. This is an easy, easy laydown in this situation 90% of time if not more.

These situations can be tough. Versus a more aggressive guy I'm three betting the flop each time. Versus a more unknown I'm check calling the turn and mostly check/calling the river too but sometimes check folding (i.e. an ace turns and he still contination bets the river)

This particular turn card is really one of the only cards in the deck that I think I lay down the turn against.
