Default SCOTUS Decision: Garcetti v. Ceballos

Good blog discussion of this case

Anybody else following this case? IMO a terrible and somewhat scary decision by the majority. Ceballos worked for a prosecutors office and wrote an internal memo suggesting a possibility of illegal behavior in obtaining a search warrant. Ceballos was then re-assigned to a less desirable position apparently in retaliation for the memo. Ceballos claimed his First and Fourteenth Amendment rights were violated. The Supreme Court ruled that speech relating to a gov't employee's job is not protected. The only way it could possibly be protected is if Ceballos wrote a letter to the editor or maybe posted on a personal blog about his opinions. As far as I can tell the decision does everything to promote gov't corruption and nothing much to promote transparent gov't.
