i really liked the ending

The ending was great--imo people who think the movie went off the rails in the last 20 minutes at least half missed the point. I'm not sure if spoilers are OK here, so...

POSSIBLE SPOILER

...I'll just say that I wish I had a second crack at the conversation between TLJ and his wife at the end, especially part B of what he said. The general feel of his part B reminded me of the epilogue of Blood Meridian, but I need to hear it again.

wiki has what the story was about, but not actual transcript.

i need to see the movie again anyways, just way too much beauty to digest in one sitting.

hey guys who have read blooed meridian.

i just read the first chapter or so, and at the risk of sounding like a simpleton its sort of a tough read. does the reader grow accustomed to the writing style or does it get easier as the book goes on.

POSSIBLE SPOILER

I just want to make clear that I don't think understanding the symbolism of the last conversation will unlock the meaning of the entire movie or anything; I just wanted another crack at it because Cormac McCarthy and the Coens are thoughtful and that scene was there for a reason.

It reminded me of the Blood Meridian epilogue partly because I think the overall feel of the scene is probably more important than trying to decode it detail by detail...I don't know if anyone on earth (CM included) could tell you exactly what the Blood Meridian epilogue "was supposed to mean," but I think the mood of the paragraph was pretty clear.

you will get more used to it, but it's not going to change much. It's a little like getting used to shakespeare; when you start out it takes the first act for your ears to adjust to the language and the shape of the sentences. No shame in thinking it's tough...it's absolutely tough imo.

But at least even when the actual meaning seems super slippery, you can always sink into the prose and the dialogue just because it's so expert and beautiful. And if you're not enjoying anything about it right now, I wouldn't force it, ok to try it again another day. Dude, even Harold Bloom said it took him three tries to get through his first reading of Blood Meridian (and he thinks it's like one of the best handful of books in the last century).

I just got back from watching this movie and I really have no idea what to think about it. I probably did not "get" the movie but I really enjoyed it.

It will be the same pretty much all the way through. You'll get used to it, somewhat, but you'll still feel like you're forcing your way through the text, however, this is a book you can read once a year for the rest of your life, and still get something from it.

The second read-through well be loads easier, almost natural, and then you'll be able to enjoy the prose for it's structure as well as it's content.
