This was last year, but whatever. I thought it was funny enough that I've had it bookmarked since then and haven't forgotten about it.

web page

[ QUOTE ]
Atkins had three hits to extend his hitting streak to 13 games for the Rockies, who finished with 18 hits. Todd Helton homered and Matt Holliday went 4-for-6 with four RBI.

The 22 combined runs were the most at RFK Stadium since the Nationals moved from Montreal last year.

Colorado's Cory Sullivan also became the eighth player with four sacrifice bunts in a game. Sullivan had sacrifices in the first, third, fourth and seventh innings to give him a major league-high 10 for the year.

[/ QUOTE ]

Rockies 1st
Tony Armas Jr. pitching:
Jamey Carroll: Strike looking, Ball, Strike looking, Ball, Ball, Carroll walked.
Cory Sullivan: Sullivan sacrificed to first, Carroll to second.
Todd Helton: Ball, Strike swinging, Foul, Foul, Ball, Foul, Ball, Helton walked.

Rockies 3rd
Tony Armas Jr. pitching:
Byung-Hyun Kim: Kim singled to center.
Jamey Carroll: Ball, Ball, Ball, Carroll walked, Kim to second.
Cory Sullivan: Foul, Sullivan reached on bunt single to pitcher, Kim to third, Carroll to second.
Todd Helton: Strike looking, Strike swinging, Foul, Helton hit sacrifice fly to left, Kim scored.
Matt Holliday: Ball, Strike swinging, Holliday singled to right, Carroll scored, Sullivan to third.
Garrett Atkins: Strike looking, Foul, Atkins homered to left, Sullivan and Holliday scored.
Brad Hawpe: Foul, Strike swinging, Ball, Hawpe singled to center.

my favorite sequence:

Rockies 4th
Tony Armas Jr. pitching:
Byung-Hyun Kim: Kim singled to center.
Jamey Carroll: Carroll singled to center, Kim to second.
Jon Rauch relieved Tony Armas.
Cory Sullivan: Ball, Bunt foul, Sullivan sacrificed to third, Kim to third, Carroll to second.
Todd Helton: Intentional ball, Intentional ball, Intentional ball, Helton intentionally walked.
Matt Holliday: Holliday singled to left center, Kim and Carroll scored, Helton to third.

Rockies 7th
Bill Bray pitching:
Jamey Carroll: Carroll singled to left.
Cory Sullivan: Ball, Sullivan sacrificed to first, Carroll to second.
Todd Helton: Foul, Helton singled to right, Carroll scored.

final score: Colorado 14-8

White Sox line up 4-25 vs. Detroit

6.Rob Mackowiak RF
9.Brian Anderson DH

Usually a good idea to DH a very good defensive OF who can't hit and start a defensive liabilty in RF.

OK this one was seven years ago but it was so bad I have to mention it whenever discussions like this come up. Dusty Baker should have been fired in the middle of the game.

bunting with abreu in the 6th inning today was pretty stupid

at first they thought he was doing it on his own but flaherty insisted joe was giving him signs to do it

Dusty Baker 2002 World Series Game 6.

[ QUOTE ]
The turning point in the series came in Game 6. Leading 5-0 with one out in the bottom of the 7th inning, 8 outs away from the Giants' first World Series title in San Francisco, Giants manager Dusty Baker pulled starting pitcher Russ Ortiz for setup man Félix Rodríguez after Ortiz gave up consecutive singles to third baseman Troy Glaus and designated hitter Brad Fullmer. In a widely publicized move, Baker gave Ortiz the game ball as he sent him back to the dugout.

[/ QUOTE ]

Game. Set. Match.

meh abreu can't seem to hit anymore and it was against a lefty. not going to kill him for this - although michael kay is a moron, so maybe that's influencing my decision. there's already 2 color commentators in the booth.

besides there are about 15 torre decisions this year that are worse than abreu bunting.

Not a single instance, but honorable mention to Joe Maddon for more than doubling up the next highest team in CS with a team that is hitting HRs at breakneck pace.
