Blinds from skitzo...

25/50
50/100
75/150
100/200
150/300
200/400
250/500
300/600
400/800

T5000
Green (Standard): 8 x T25 = T200 (80 chips)
White (I know not standard): 18 x T100 = T1800 (180 chips)
Red (Close enough to purple): 6 x T500 = T3000 (60 chips)

Black: Chip up to T1000 when needed

This is just off the top of my head, it may work...

[/ QUOTE ]

This will work!

[/ QUOTE ]

I suspect you would need a couple more levels...

T50000 total in play.

500/1000
600/1200
800/1600
1000/2000
1200/2400
1400/2800 m = 15 (should end by here)
1600/3200 m = 10 (if things go long this will be the last level you will need)

16 levels x 20 mins = 320/60 = 5h20m (pretty long)
16 levels x 15 mins = 240/60 = 4 hours (do-able)

Gotta remember these will more than likely end before level 16.

[/ QUOTE ]

They usually get to 500/1000, or 700/1400

"then your first blind level should be 5/10. If you start with t3000 and figure your tourney will last too long, then I think it makes more sense to reduce the starting stack than starting at 10/20 blinds."

With T3000, you have a problem with starting at 150BB? You guys must like long tourneys...

Unless your group is really tight, I would be shocked if it got past here. M isn't 15 at the T2800 level, it's no better than 9

I'd expect it to end at T2000 or earlier.

Actually, maybe I didn't interpret yours well enough. What is the gain of going 5/10 with T2000 rather than T10/20 with T3000 to start? (other than it's a slightly better BB ratio)

The key factor here that I believe I pointed out was that with $5 chips in play, it is unusual to have starting blinds of 10/20. In most games, the smallest chip is the SB.

So my point was, if you have $5 chips in play, then your starting blind should be 5/10, not 10/20. And if your tourney time is fixed, then you can meet the tourney time by adjusting the starting stack value (rather than skipping the first blind level for example).

I might be nitpicking here but I don't think I'm out of line.

Why does everybody re-invent the wheel here. Picking blind structure is the easiest thing to do. Use a casino structure like foxwoods. Then you vary the interval at which the blinds escalate. Finally you vary the amount of starting chips to make you tournament long or short. Remember the rule of thumb is:

Level at which the tournament will end is:

(Big Blind amount) = (No. of Player)x(Starting Chip Count)x(0.02)

Example: 10 players, Start with 5000 chips

(10)x(5000)x(0.02) = 1000

So when you reach a level around 1000 for the big blind the tourney should be close to the end.

It's a simple formula, just make it part of a sticky, no more questions.

Hi there!

I use these values of my chips at home (white, green, red blue, black:

10
20
50
100
200

then i give each player a total amount of 3000, which is an M of 100.
