Re: Bad Habbit or Efficient Noob?
I don't know how smooth the average 3/6 player is where you are, but here there seem to be 3 ways to put out bets and raises:
<ul type="square"> [*] Count out the chips s l o w l y, then put them out all at once [*] Grab random number of chips, put them in, then add/remove chips to make bet [*] Grab most or all of a 20-chip stack, drop in desired number of chips, then remove rest of stack
The last thing 3/6 players are going to notice is how good/bad you are at getting chips into the pot. Edit: I forgot the fourth way, which is a variation of the second: Grab random number of chips, put them in, wait for dealer to tell you whether you're short/over. |

Kurt,
That's fine. I do find it odd that you have a hard time cutting off 3 or 6 chips, though. |

Re: Bad Habbit or Efficient Noob?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] lot of small stakes players have an annoying habit of waiting until the guy in front of them has finished putting out chips before he acts, even if he's already made a binding verbal declaration. [/ QUOTE ] it would be the dealer's responsbility to keep the game action fluid at that point. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah right, this is how it goes, "Sir, he announced call, the action is on you." The guy looks at me defiantly and looks back at other guy counting out his bet. He's waiting till the action is complete in front of him before he even looks at his cards. And there's nothing I can do or say to convince him otherwise. Yeah it drives me crazy... OP, you're being an Efficient Noob. A lot of people keep a few bets counted out next to their stack. |

[ QUOTE ]
in a fixed limit game, just make your verbal action first ("bet", "raise") and action will pass to the next player. then you can take your time putting the proper amount of chips in, since your word is already binding in the hand. say it...then spray it [/ QUOTE ] You have to be really careful with this. I've gotten in the habbit of not saying things because for some reason 1 in 20 players/dealers can't tell the difference between my "check" and my "bet". While it doesn't happen often I ended up with one dealer that made me check instead of putting my bet out twice because she misheard me. The one time another player even backed up what I said, but she ignored him. (Of course she actually saved me $6, but meh) |

Re: Bad Habbit or Efficient Noob?
I only feel the need to announce raises. Checks can be done very effectively with gestures (except when guys insist on gesturing to their left with their index finger instead of tapping the table). Calls are usually self-explanatory as well.

Re: Bad Habbit or Efficient Noob?
I cut cheques well and I do this too.
I usually have one small bet, two small bets, and three small bets cut out already. It's fun auto-3betting people. |
