Re: GAMESAPALOOZA 2007 [Game Thread]
Sorry. Having a job sucks! [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]
The next game is 3-handed pick a number. I haven't come up with the exact format for the competition. We do need two players as subs for chim and Brain. I'll see what I can drum up and if you guys could help me as well, I'd appreciate it. Any interested subs can contact me by PM or AIM. Official rules will be posted tonight. |

Re: GAMESAPALOOZA 2007 [Game Thread]
Three-Handed Pick a Number
The Game: Each player picks an integer 1 though 9. The player with the middle number wins if all three numbers are unique. If there is only one unique number, that number wins. If all three players choose the same number, it's a draw and everyone chooses another number. In this game, the two non-winners of each game will do RPS (best of 3). Scoring: Winning the 3-handed number yields you 4 points toward your group standings. Winning an RPS showdown earns you 1 point toward the group standings. Groups: The competitors will be split into 3 groups of 4 players. The top 3 in the overall standings will be in separate groups. All other competitors will be randomly assigned to a group. Competitors will compete in a round-robin within their group in a manner so that they will have a game with each set of players. In other words, each competitor will compete in three games. Competitors will be ranked by the total number of points gathered in group play. The first place finisher in the group will advance to the three-handed final. Second place competes in the 4-6 game. Third place competes in the 7-9 game. Fourth place competes in the 10-12 game. Group Tiebreakers: If a two-way tie exists and the players have competed in RPS, the player with the better head to head RPS record wins. If they have not, then they will compete best of 3 RPS. If there is a three-way tie, the player that won the pick a number between the three will be ranked highest. The remaining tie will be broken as above. If there is a four-way tie, a single elimination RPS bracket will determine the winner. All of these matches will be best of 3. Final Rounds: Each round will start with a three-handed pick a number. The winner of this will receive the highest place available in the group. The other place will be determined by RPS (best of 3). To win the championship round, a player must win two three-handed rounds. Second place will be determined by the most number of pick a numbers won in the championship round. If this is a tie, the tie will be resolved with RPS (best of 3). *** Another convoluted ruleset. I'm going to give everyone a day or so to digest and to make suggestions for changes before I announce the group assignments. I wanted this to be as fair as possible, thus the extended rules. |

Re: GAMESAPALOOZA 2007 [Game Thread]
lastchance and dmk, I am feeling very lazy.
the optimal strategy here is obviously to play 5 (as it is the middle number) now the downside to choosing 5 is that it's likely that someone else will choose 5 alongside you (and some jank like 1 could win). so I am basically announcing my intent to play 5. If you play 5, you will not win. good luck |

Wow! You guys suck!
Here are the results from Round 1: Group A: dmk 5 lastchance no submission LuckayLuck 5 Group B: fmxda no submission Nicholasp27 5 Scott Howard v3.1 no submission Group C: Boiler_bd 5 chuckleslovakian no submission Iron_Yuppie no submission *** Here's what I'm going to do. Nich and Boiler automatically win their matches for being the only ones to submit. Groups B and C will not have RPS for 1 pt in the standings, since noone submitted. dmk and LuckayLuck will RPS for 3 points. They both receive 1 point and the winner will get 3 additional points. |
