Golfers -- anyone use any of the medicus products?
Just picked up one of these for $60 at my dad's recommendation. Haven't used it, will post a trip report as soon as I get it and use it for a while; just wondering what other experiences are, with it, or with the driver model.
I'm trying to avoid buying much gimmicky [censored], but the price seemed decent on this and I can always repackage it and give it to my dad for Christmas if I hate it. Rob |

Re: Golfers -- anyone use any of the medicus products?
Have sort of played around with one at a golf shop. Can see how it might be useful.
The best thing for MY swing was the Whippy Tempomaster. I had an over-active right hand, and was releasing or hitting the club at the ball. The tempomaster helped me by eliminating any active hands on the downswing. So, while the stuff may look gimmicky, some of this stuff works, if it addresses the gremlins of your swing. |

I don't know what your current score is...my friend who currently shoots in the low 80's bought one on the recommendation of a golf instructor. He partially lost his swing and it took a few months to get it back.
On the other hand, I know someone who shot around 120 and it knocked a good 10 - 15 strokes off his game. So it depends where your game is. |

You would be better off spending the $60 on a lesson and range balls. I'm a 7 handicap and I cant swing that thing without it breaking down. Also, practice your putting and chipping alot.

Re: Golfers -- anyone use any of the medicus products?
I have a friend who took up golf 2 years ago and immediately bought this. He has used it regularly for over 18 months.
He now consistently breaks 90 and has a very sound swing. His nickname is now 'Medicus'. I can't seem to swing the thing and I'm a 12 handicap. Give it a good solid try over the winter and see what happens in the spring... |

Rob,
Golf training aids are usually not worth messing with. This probably isn't an exception. My understanding is you can adjust the tension on these things to where they almost never break or you can have them too loose and they always break. This is what i have heard from people who have tried them if i remember correctly. |

Re: Golfers -- anyone use any of the medicus products?
Just for the general profile of my "game," I've only been out for 18 holes 3 times in my life (all within the last 2 months). I enjoy playing and am trying to work on my game over the winter in Seattle, where I'll be spending a lot more time at the range than on holes due to the soggy conditions. My game isn't really "anything" yet, and I'll be taking some lessons, but I'm not ready to spend a ton yet on anything -- clubs, devices, lessons, etc.

Whoa! Okay then, invest in a few lessons from a very good instructor. Work on the fundamentals. Better now than later.

I like them. I had one but broke it (the bottom section flew off into the bushes on the other side of a fence one day when i was practicing with it)
I think it will be benficial since you are still very early in your swing development. In addition to swing-plane, the greatest benefit will be tempo control. I have not tried the driver version. |
