I don't know how the game was playing or what history the 2 of you have, but if he did call the 4 bet w/ AQ or AJ, it was not w/ the intention of folding. I'm not saying shove is the right play either, I'm just saying it's got a better chance of getting in vs his AQ or AJ than c/c does.
