Default Two stud8 $5/10 hands playing for high

From posting so many hands, I didn't dare to make two separate posts about this, even though the hands don't have much to do with each other. Sorry for posting so many hands. I just feel like I am playing on constant tilt this week, and I don't feel sure about things I do.

Hand 1: 3rd street decision. Should this hand be played? Since I didn't know, I opted to fold.

7 Card Stud High-Low ($5/$10), Ante $1, Bring-In $1,50 (converter)

3rd Street - (1.60 SB)

Seat 7: xx xx 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]___folds
Seat 8: xx xx 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___calls___calls

Hand 2: What do you think about all streets here?

One thing I see is that I think the river is a value bet. My gut feeling was that he had trip queens, and I was afraid of a FH. Nonetheless, I suspect I was playing scared and that this is a fairly obvious value bet.

Total pot: (14.80 BB - $148)

On a sidenote, missed value bets make me feel so terrible. If I lose $100 because I play bad that doesn't make me feel too bad, but when I lose $6 because I missed a bet I feel so incredibly bad inside.

Hand 1 is standard fold given no low possible/dead straight/dead flush cards. Hand 2, betting river is fine since check/raise is pretty unlikely.

(7stud games are my worst games) Why would you play K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] on 3rd street when it is very hard to scoop?

KK has good equity vs a low hand and a worse high hand. seat 8 doesnt even have to have a low hand given he's raising from lp

What do you put the other players on? The guy raising with an Eight in the door probably doesn't have a low hand. The guy with the Queen in the door doesn't have a low hand. So this is looking like a one-way hand, and we have Kings.

Back when high-low split was played with no qualifier, high pairs were pure death because they had almost no chance to scoop. In stud/8, they have a decent chance to scoop when the low hands bust out. So you want a shorthanded pot, and you'd prefer that your opponents be on weaker high hands. I'd say that third is a good situation.
