This year, use computers, Strength of schedule, etc.

The subjective polls for AP and coaches will be all over the map.

the current system really freaking sucks.

Right now you have OSU hanging around and rooting for either Mizzou or WV to lose so they can sneak their way back to the championship game.
And who knows what might happen if either wins particularly unimpressively..OSU might sneak in anyway.
And if both Mizzou AND WV happen to lose then you have the issue of trying to decide which opponent for OSU is least unworthy. OU, LSU, GA, VT whoever.

Current system is idiotic.
With teams like Boise State last year a true playoff could have been particularly exciting.

This year I would love to see an 8 team playoff with something like these 6 teams probably going:
OSU
Mizzou
VT
LSU
WV
USC

And then a few others in the running for the final 2 spots such as HAW, TEN, GA, OU, maybe BC, maybe somebody else I'm forgetting.

Since ClarkNasty locked the other thread, I didn't get a chance to respond to this:

Random question that I don't think deserves its own thread so I'll post it here:

Say that Mizzou and WVU lose. Would you rather tOSU play Hawaii or a 2 loss team in the NT?

89,854 and counting

As an Ohio State fan, I would love this to happen. It would be a lock to win the Nat'l Title for us.

Yeah, because tOSU would be huge favorites over say USC or LSU. Oh, wait.

Ohio State would be a lock over Hawaii, not LSU or USC. I meant to say I'd love for tOSU to play Hawaii.

OK, here is how I would work the system. End the Regular season in the last week in November (cut teams down to a 11 game schedule excluding conference championship games)

First 2 Saturdays in December you play the first 2 rounds at the home field of the higher seed.

On the 2nd Sunday in December (assuming Dec 1st isn't a Sunday) you make bowl selections. All teams who were in the playoffs play in BCS Bowls depending on conference, etc...

Play out the rest of the schedule as it is right now with bowl games going from mid-December to the National Championship game in early January.

Have the actual national championship game where the winner is decided on the field. This also cuts down on the break between the last game and the NC game so you don't have a 3 month layoff like tOSU had last year.

I would take Ohio State -17 against Hawaii. I just checked and Sagarin Predictor has Ohio State better by 14 points. Ohio State is 3 points better than LSU according to the predictor, and 5 points better than USC. Since it doesn't take into account the injuries USC had, it should be close to a pick-em against USC. After watching LSU week in and week out, the 3 point line favoring OSU seems about right.

Tell the coach/AD to schedule them home/home in the future. Since they are paper tigers. Road game in Hawaii doesn't even count against the '12 game' limit. Hawaii was even giving a $750,000 guaranteed payout to visitors.

Guess Akron, Youngstown St, and Kent St are enough.
