Default Why the South Point?

Just wondering why the South Point is the place of choice for filming the two biggest stand alone poker shows? It doesn't sound like the best casino from what i have read in B+M, maybe they just have alot of free space to host tv sets.

Any ideas?

I believe part of the agreement to host a WPT event is that you can't televise any other poker events there. This would greatly diminish the number of poker rooms that could actually do the show.

A lot of the players like to ride their horses around the equestrian arena when they're on breaks between takes.

Probably because they can get the space for FREE,... as opposed to the Wynn, Venetian or Ceasers....

They look very expensive to me.

There's one that can have everything I own.

Interesting thing I heard about this the other day hearing an interview with a NASCAR Driver. His family owns the South Point. They used to own a bunch of casinos with the Boyd Group, but then sold their stock and opened up South Point. The race team has not won in a few years... I think the name is Ganns?

The WPT exclusivity is interesting, had not heard that.

You mean the Gaughan family. Michael used to own the Coast casinos, while his his father Jackie once owned many downtown Vegas casinos like the El Cortez, Western, LV Club, and Gold Spike.
