Default 5-10 NL short stack headaches

When starting my regular 5-10 NL game after the weekly tournament, I often find myself with players who are going to take shots with a stack of just $100-$200. They have just come from the tournament and for the first hour or two the game feels more like a final tournament table then a ring game. For example, I put in a raise of $45 with KQs and find someone with 77 coming over the top for $150. To make this precise assume three of us buy in for $500, one for $300, and the other five for $100-$200. Any advice for how to play this kind of game? Right now I'm leaning towards just lobbying as much as possible until the shot takers have all busted out or built up their stacks.

if the whole game is that short, then yes it is rather like a tournament. big hands are stronger than speculative ones.

adjust better than they do and you'll take their money.

In general: short stackers are very annoying BUT are almost always donkish so worth tolerating.

Is there any point in limping UTG with a small pair? Or is it just a waste given that you always have to dump for a raise and get raised a lot of the time by one of the short stackers?

Limping under the gun with a small pair is bad whether the game plays 20 or 1000 BBs deep.

"Limping under the gun with a small pair is bad whether the game plays 20 or 1000 BBs deep." I believe you, but why is that so in a 1000BB deep game? Isn't there money to be made calling moderate raises with small pairs, flopping sets, etc, even UTG? Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

I woudn"t play in this game.
But if someone forced me , I would tighten up my staring hands.
with small stack value of big cards go up, and all suited connectors small cards go down.
There wold be very little value calling raises, or raisng with suited connectors.
