Default 200NL - 45s - Bluffing on the river.

Villain is 39/11 over just 18 hands. Is this gooot or just spew? Thoughts please.

I think bluffing those guys is usually spew. Bluff people who have a fold button.

I guess maybe that makes him closer to an unknown which might make this move worse.

What do we think his range is though?

It seemed to me like 77-99/JJ were a lrage part of his range and I thought the big river bet would get him to fold these most of the time.
Bad thinking? Fancy Play Syndrome? Curious if anyone else would make this move.

Nah, I'm not too fond of it... What's his showdown stats? Anyway, I need a cold-caller in between to make the pre-flop call. Calling a 4x raise is spew imo...

Fold preflop.

As played, flop call is fine with a pair and backdoor flush draw and backdoor straight draw.

When he checks the turn and you pick up a gutshot, sometimes I check behind here unless I "know" the player will fold to pressure. The last thing you want is a check-raise on the turn, forcing you to fold a hand that could have busted a big hand that he was willing to go to war with.

The reason you called on the flop was because: 1) you thought your pair might be good, and 2) you wanted to freeze him and take a free card in position if you picked up a draw to go with your pair on the turn. So, give some thought to taking the free card. Be more inclined to bet in this spot if you did not pick up a draw to go with your pair of 4s.

I don't like the PF call at all. You aren't deep enough, there are people behind who can raise and you know nothing about the guy. If you are going to make these calls at least ensure the opponent has a full stack or more. At least thats my opinion on such calls.
