Teddy,

You're not helping your cause by contributing to it. This post would be no fun if it were filled with endless stats and no speculation.

Cardplayer magazine is in Red Oak, Iowa...

if anyone could put me in touch with either Bluff or Cardplayer I'd love to do an interview

[/ QUOTE ]

Deliberately exposing the situation may expedite results but as well tarnish the online games and playerbase moreso.

[/ QUOTE ]

yes, its much better for this kind of crap to keep going behind the scenes.

guys, people in general are dumb, and will gamble away money online no matter what. Trying to brush this under the rug or deal with it behind scenes will just lead to bigger problems down the road.

haha, this isn't a reality show, lets keep contributions to this to posts with people actually involved, some actual insight or data, or something else useful.

i'd suggest making a whole separate thread for the jokes.

Does AP advertise in either of these magazines? Even if not, seems like getting some bad publicity out in CardPlayer or whatever might motivate them to actually respond, whereas they very well may not give a [censored] if it's just a few online poker forums that know about this right now.

I just registered for the Casinomeister forums, but it looks like they've got a moderator approval system for new accounts. Can someone with an account post the '21 of 26 hands' thing to make that troll on page 5 go away? I don't care about other forums, but CM actually has pull and the trolls need to be banished so that he decides to do something about it.

How about the PPA? I understand they have more important fish to fry at this point, but try PMing either Fossilman or TheEngineer on these forums...i'm sure they'd have some very useful contacts for escalating this issue. I'm sure aba also has some Cardplayer contacts cuz he was on the cover. Is Linda Johnson still involved over there? She's a sweetheart and might be willing to help.

Someone with some sort of PR or legal experience etc should put together some sort of form email that we can all send to UB/AP demanding specific answers of specific questions by a certain day or we all request our accounts closed and never do business with either site again. We should also get that message out to a few other boards as this is becoming a hot topic elsewhere. Might get the ball rolling if they receive the same email on the same day by a few thousand members.

I've just had a discussion with someone who doesn't understand the statistical evidence. And I thought of a method to persuade such people on the base of some common sense.

[/ QUOTE ]

here's a better one:

1)if you were cheating, would you ever call a river bet?

2)if you were not cheating, and you decided to play 21 out of 26 hands, what do you think the chances are that there were no big pairs dealt to the table in those 21 hands while a big pair *was* dealt out in at least 4 of the other 5?

[/ QUOTE ]

No, it's not that easy. First point can be refuted by saying that it is his particular strategy. 2nd point is also not valid as it is a small sample size. If we estimate this probability as 1/(23*22*21*20*19) it will be less than the probaility of being dealt aces 3 times in a row. (rare event for sure, but one can claim that he is just the lucky one among all the players who play poker.)

Basically to give a good statistical estimations we need to show that the proability of having such results for all the players ever playing poker during all the time of on-line poker would be less than 1%.

It is not that easy to do in a rigorous way.

P.S. Your second point is similar to a question: What is the probaility that I've seen a red Toyota with the plate FR 2756.

the problem with that refutation is that it assumes the person making it understands statistics. if the person understands stats, you show them pokertracker, problem solved.

you don't argue with people that don't understand stats by throwing lots of numbers at them. just show them the 21 of 26 thing, then the call with ten high.

Does anybody here have ins with CardPlayer or Bluff magazines?

[/ QUOTE ]
Anybody here live in Atlanta? Bluff's office is in Sandy Springs. It might be worth a call or a visit for people who feel passionate about this situation.

[/ QUOTE ]
I own part of Bluff. I'm in the office regularly -- what sort of help would you like?

FWIW, I was speaking with another one of the owners on the phone yesterday and he wasn't even aware of it until I pointed him to BBV.
