N8,

I only have one question as an online player. IYO, is it now safe to deposit 25k and begin playing again at AP?

Thanks,
SE

Why is hiding Scott Tom's name so important to them?

[/ QUOTE ]

Also Nat on a more personal level, did you laugh out loud when they asked you to not mention his name even though this "Search results for query: +scott +tom N 82 50 24" returns over 40 results.

Former Grand Chief Joe Norton, the 100% owner of AP

That never gets old!

the security breach, which resulted in unfair play, was resolved immediately after it was discovered and confirmed

[/ QUOTE ]
Even better!

[ QUOTE ]
The known period of unfair playing was approximately 40 days in length, beginning on 14 August 2007.

[/ QUOTE ]
Say no more!

[ QUOTE ]
A known perpetrator was immediately terminated upon discovery of the scheme and no longer has access to AP.

[/ QUOTE ]
Nudge nudge.

[ QUOTE ]
There is no evidence of the current or past existence of a “super-user” account. There is no player account in the AP system with the ability to see other players’ hole cards.

[/ QUOTE ]
Well that changes everything. Glad you cleared that up!

[ QUOTE ]
AP can confirm that not every hand played by the perpetrating accounts during the said period was compromised by the tool enabling the unfair advantage.

[/ QUOTE ]
So hey, it wasn’t all bad!

[ QUOTE ]
Currently, thousands of people are playing on AP

[/ QUOTE ]
And why not?

Just playing devils advocate....but couldnt it be true that you cant simply "boot" an equity owner out?

*I know nothing about such things, just a thought

I think the meeting would go something like this:

Minority shareholders: Hey Mr. 51% owner, we think you’re a slimy jerk and should be fired.
Mr. 51%: OK, let’s vote on it.
Minority shareholders: Um, OK. All in favor say aye. Aye! All opposed say nay.
Mr. 51%: Nay.
Company secretary: The nays have it.
Minority shareholders: Foiled again!

I have been a lurker/observer on this forum for a few months. I have been following the AP cheating issue with a great deal of interest. I have never played on Absolute nor UB, and I certainly do not intend to. I appreciate all of the effort that Nat, Serge and others have made to investigate this. I have a couple of questions/points that I was hoping might be addressed.

I must say I was somewhat disappointed with Nat’s Q&A article. This seems to be a somewhat sanitary overview of the trip with little new information. I understand that you are under a NDA. Will future posts be a little more detailed regarding exact participation and methodology?

The statements from AP regarding ownership (and implied control) seem to be a joke. I understand there may be legal/tax reasons for this, but will there ever be any transparency on this?

I have only seen this hinted at. Considering that US citizens may be involved in the ownership or control of an overseas gambling enterprise, I would find it surprising if the DOJ or some other agency were not investigating this. If even potentially true, why would anyone that remembers the netTeller fiasco keep any funds with either AP or UB?

Doesn’t this whole thing point to what a huge mistake the UIGEA was. Hundreds of thousand (if not millions) of US citizens are at financial risk (albeit voluntary) in an unregulated (and untaxed) environment.

Keep up the good work all.

There is a fair amount of "new information" to be address in future posts. But there isn't any huge new dramabomb on the way. Also, the PokerNews version is a little more sanitized than what I plan on putting on my blog.

I don't know, but that problem depends what you're looking for. If you're looking for someone to be named and prosecuted, probably not.
