Re: Massachusetts to open casino. Poker room?
[ QUOTE ]
Show them that X sq ft of floorspace will generate more profit as a poker room than as slots or as table games or as a Starbucks, then they will listen. [/ QUOTE ] They can't be that dumb. They know that Poker is on TV and that poker players wives play slots. Actually I was listening to a Cahill soundbite this morning. He said the P word. |

Re: Massachusetts to open casino. Poker room?
hope this happens I live about 20 min from middleborough.
Beats 1hr plus drive to foxwoods or mohegan when they open their room. Guess its way to early to tell what kind of poker room if any the propossed casino would have but it will be nice to have options. |

Re: Massachusetts to open casino. Poker room?
Did anyone actually read the article?
The article says that the state is "preempting" the indian tribe by building a state owned casino before the tribe can make one. The dude is quoted as saying lets do this and get the revenue before the indians do. Regards, Greg |

I can see it now: blackjack with no face cards; keno with 200 numbers on the board; roulette tables with 0, 00, 000, 0000, and 00000... ...and of course, poker with a 50% rake. |

Re: Massachusetts to open casino. Poker room?
I don't think the State plans on running it. They will just put it out to bid and take care of the legal stuff. The money will be from taxes rather than taking a cut of the slots (like Foxwoods, Mohegan). I've heard they are looking at places like Fall River and New Bedford to create jobs. Somewhere central off the Pike would attract the most people imo. Downtown, No Shore, Woo rats and So NH.
The kicker is that once they legalize it the Indians can open their place and not owe a dime to the State. |

Re: Massachusetts to open casino. Poker room?
Sheer morbid curiosity wants me to see Massachusetts run a casino.
As you drive the Pike to the casino, just remember that this is the Commonwealth that spends 90 cents out every dollar in tolls paid on .............. the actual process of collecting the tolls. |

Maybe they should double the tolls. That would fix that, wouldn't it?

Re: Massachusetts to open casino. Poker room?
I'm 19 and live in Southern NH, and when I turn 21 i'd gladly go to a casino in mass if it had a poker room. Hopefully this gets done in the next few years.

They should wipe out Salisbury Beach, its a shyt hole anyways... It would go along well with the new Tens, which was redone nicely..

Re: Massachusetts to open casino. Poker room?
mayor Menino (D-boston) is a supporter of the project. i am sure that he will push for this project to be within the city limits but the lack of space will make this idea move outside of the city. it's too bad all the state pols we more up for this idea when they were getting all wet to build that damn convention center on the waterfront. that place seems to have an event maybe once every 3 weeks and i am sure it does not attract as much tourism to boston and does not bring in the same sort of revenue that a luxury hotel/ casino would do in that same slot of land. dreamers can dream. i live about 4 miles from there and work a 10 min walk from there. i vote to tear down the new convention center.
