Robert is supposed to be the best in Tunica but I haven't played him yet (his wife tells me he is the best, good enough for me since there seems to be no evidence otherwise - Kate is very cool).

[/ QUOTE ]

I think Doc Jennings would qualify as the best triple draw player in Tunica. Back in 2004 Robert Williamson was telling a story about how they change the procedure at Bellagio to accomodate him when he plays there.

[/ QUOTE ]

Standard procedure is push. If the player wants their cards tossed the Bellagio will accommodate however the player must play any exposed non-wheel cards as well as wheel cards at that point. Johny Chan also asks for this adjustment.

[/ QUOTE ]

I wasn't going to mention what we were discussing as it deserves its own thread (which we have done before). but it really surprises me that the Bellagio default is to slide. Back when I dealt the standard in live games (top section dealers) was to pitch and the standard in tournaments (bottom section/less experienced dealers and players) was to slide. I prefer the cards be pitched as it moves the game better and I think they are less likely to be exposed, and it is harder for a dealer to deal a second (well harder to get away with it).

[/ QUOTE ]

RR - slide is the default because it removes the problem of exposed cards. When a wheel card is exposed the player must keep the card. WSOP has the same policy and also when I played in the Binions 2-7 tournament this past summer they had to slide as well (I know because we got a ruling at my table). Give the B a call or send Fishead a PM to discuss further perhaps?

I have discussed this quite a bit. I am just of the opinion that it is more likely to flash if you slide it (take a deck and pull a card off to slide it and look at how you have to hold it).

edit to add: Just a funny personal note, I used to live next door to Fishhead.

For neophytes like myself could you please elaborate on the differences and relative advantages between 'pitching' and 'sliding'.

P.S. RR what do you think the chances are of the Gilpin spreading a stud game?

If you do happen to get that invitation to break bread with Paul Clark, be sure to bring a jacket, I heard that the bricks his house is built with can be quite cold.

Pretty good. I heard a rumor of a stud event coming in Dec. I would like to have one once a week or so.

It's just about how they get your cards to you. When you ask to draw 3 and hand over your 3 cards, the dealer can either pitch 3 new cards to you, or deal the 3 down in front of her and then slide 'em over. As you've seen from the RR/TT commentary already, each camp has its champions. WSOP standard was "slide".

Dunno if he's gotten better but Doc is a beast at A-5 and only seems to be ok at 2-7. He always lobbies to get A-5 added to a mix because he plays so much better at it than deuce.

I saw Jamie Gold and Robert Williamson playing Oneal Longson 100- 200 2-7 Triple draw last night at the Venetian. I believed they also played Pot Limit Omaha as well....

Thats an interesting game. O'Niel is one of the best shorthanded 2-7 experts in Vegas, heads up is his game. Who's the live one in that game?
